Mindfreak book

Postby Guest » March 8th, 2007, 6:28 am

I work in a bookstore, and occasionally have a shot at advance copies of books. The other day I was very very lucky and got an advance "uncorrected proof" of _Mindfreak_ by Criss Angel.

It's pretty cool.

First, I want to compliment him, Richard, and the publisher for both crediting the tricks that are the second half of the book, and for prominently noting that Criss did have a coauthor (Laura Morton) for the bio which is the first half of the book.

Second, reading the beginning made me want to get in shape! (But maybe without the hooks through my back or fire on my arm. :D )

Finally, the bio portion (first half of the book) is really also an essay on his interpretation on what it is to be an artist (he _can_ do it live, physical skill can look "impossible", etc). And there are some personal comments (sacrificing personal life, for example).

Lots of photos in the how-to trick part, but only a few photos in the first half, which I assume will not change with the final published version, but we'll have to wait to see for sure.

Yeah, I got really lucky that day.

I've heard he tips the astounding vanish from under a trash can that - of course - can be done live and will feature in his new $2309823092830298 Vegas show.

I'm looking forward to it as I was involved with the photos, as were Johnny Thompson and a few other well-versed folks.
Stay tooned.
