HELP NEEDED! DO YOU HAVE VIDEOTAPE OF BOB READ?

As you know, Bob Read died late last year.

He had been in the process of making a set of DVDs with International Magic.

With the permission of Bob's wife, Pauline, I'm helping International Magic put together a definite set on Bob's magic and comedy, but there are some things missing and you can help us out.

Bob did many lectures and performances around the world and we're hoping that some of you may have videotaped what you saw.

We're looking for a videotape of the entire lecture where he ends with the glass eye and the bowler hat under a t-shirt, doing a Quasimodo impersonation.

We're also hoping that one of you has a tape or film of Bob doing "The Penultimate Cups and Balls."

Please help us in putting together this tribute to one of the funniest, and greatest, magicians of our time.

There is footage of Bob doing some things on TV, for the Magic Moments segments for HBO. I have them all, but I don't remember offhand what things Bob did. I'm pretty sure he did the Glass to Hat, with his game of "Durnitz", and at least two other things. Will these help?

There were the two tapes done by videonics in the 80's as well. There is lots of great stuff on these. You probably already knew about them. Just a reminder.

Thanks, Larry, I was actually there when Bob taped these. But they are owned by HBO and it would be almost impossible to obtain permission to use them.

Have you contacted Bob Hamilton who did all the video work at the Magic Circle Centenary and does a lot of video work of other Magic Circle events (including many Monday nights)?

Bob lectured at Hank Lee's Conclave in 1994. I have a VHS copy of the MVN Highlights tape, and some of Bob's lecture is on there. Maybe the original footage still exists! The tape was put together by Ken Norris and Dan Laffey of the Magician's Video Network, and sold through Murphy's (I believe). Good luck! - Mitch Dutton

Should have a 50 minute private recording (1st copy) on VHS tape (as per my database) of a lecture Bob did in 1983 in Delft - The Netherlands. It's somewhere in boxes.....need to dig it up and check how quality is.....

Thanks to Pinnacle I can make it NTSC so no problem.

Also see I have a 1st copy raw footage (original camera taken from 2 angels) of Bob's appearance at (1st) the Vegas Magic Symposium, but that is probably copyrighted by a Japanese crew as I got it from Japan.

Just for some more info on the appearance at Hank's convention. I believe those guys taped every second of the convention. So his complete lecture maybe be on tape somewhere, along with anything else he may have done.
