Anthony Mulle' R.I.P.

Postby Guest » September 10th, 2002, 5:30 am

It is with deep sorrow I announce the passing of my dear friend Anthony Mulle' (6/17/26 - 9/10/02) at Calvary Hospital, from pancreatic cancer. His passing is not unexpected but leaves a void which those of us who knew him well will long feel. He will be sorely missed. He was a genuine friend and a true lover of gambling artifice-- having worked for many years as a dealer and later as an "eye in the sky" in Nevada casinos-- and of magic, to which he contributed his choice thinking.

Known only to his friends in magic as "Tony," he gave generously of himself to those that knew him. His published material was not extensive but always sound, significant and useful. His "Riffle Diffle," in-the-hands False Shuffle, stands as one of the most convincing approaches ever offered. His "Rockin' Chair" Deal is unique in magic's literature for techniques for "Glimpsing" a card as it is dealt. Tony's "Retention of Vision Cut" was the far and away the most visually deceptive variation of the technique introduced to the magic fraternity by Mel Stover, commonly known as the "Winnipeg Cut."

Plans are being finalized for a wake on Tuesday, September 17, 2002, at:

Leo F. Kearns Funeral Home
61-40 Woodhaven Boulevard
Rego Park, NY 11374
(718) 441-3300

This will be followed by a funeral procession to a Mass at:

Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Roman Catholic Church
110-06 Queens Boulevard (at Ascan Ave.)
Forest Hills, NY
(718) 268-6251

He will be place at rest at:

St. John's Cemetery
Resurrection Mausoleum - Gallery of the Martyrs
80-01 Metropolitan Ave.
Middle Village, NY
(718) 894-4888

Blessed is he who rests in the Lord. Pass in Peace. Amen.

Wesley, thanks for posting the sad news. Tony was a great guy and I spent many hours in his company on Saturday afternoons.
You have to understand how funny Tony was if he could make a joke like this play (and he DID):
Tony: "What has four legs, barks, and wags its tail?"
Spectator says, "A dog."
Tony: (after a pause of EXACTLY the right length) "Oh, you've heard this one."

Richard,
You can't forget Tony's sponge ball routine where he explains the theroy of Professor Fartenjager of Menecka-Menacka University, or his TV Card effect where he explains how you have to "Dominate Camera 3".
Rest in Peace Tony, we'll miss you.

I well remember the infamous Professor Fartengeger of Menyekayeka University, but I guess we won't be hearing from him again. :(
