Has this been noted? Check the May 27 issue of The New Yorker, page 48,
for a brief casual called "The Magic Basement." It discusses the move of
a Saturday afternoon group of NYC regulars (Herb Zarrow, Oscar Weigle,
Doug Edwards, etc.) from Reuben's Deli to the basement of Maui Tacos. In
this new meeting place, according to the article, the regulars discuss moves,
bad-mouth Ricky Jay, and discuss mutual acquaintances ("For a memory expert,
his memory's not so hot").

Re: The Magic Basement
This was on the Magic Times web page. The "reporter" really comes off as a sarcastic piece of work.
Re: The Magic Basement
Meir Yedid called it sarcastic too. Bit of a thin-skinned response, IMHO. It's a short, arch observation of a slice of New York life, very much in the long tradition of the Talk of the Town column. I enjoyed it.
