I don't believe,beating the crap out of anyone solves any problem. Look around the world! What separates us from the animals is our ability to reason. Christopher Hart suggests its the organizations and people who support the rip-offs that are the real culprits.That sounds very reasonable to me.-

Yup, hers is a blatant rip-off of Chris' act. A few short clicks later and I stumbled on this next unbelievable thievery. Can anyone spot the not-so-subtle resemblance to another performer in this video?

Oscar, Renzo, Mara....two of them are children of Hans Kazan ( the third the boyfriend of Mara) Hans Kazan had his own Dutch TV shows with the youngsters and I think he is quite respected in the Dutch community. He also opened a theatre in Spain ( not the same one?) and that I know for sure whent belly under.

There's some interesting discussion going on over at the Cafe' since Magic Unlimited (the group under discussion) began posting earlier this week. I'm now the recipient of a couple Cafe' "private messages" expressing "MU's" displeasure with my comments!

Come in Tim Ellis from down under. Isnt their name a bit of a direct crib of yourselves? Magic Unlimited that is.

Its also a pity that they had to crib the Chris Hart act.....theyre defenitely good enough enough without the cribsheets.

I think we can all agree that it would be a completely different act if she performed it naked.

Just a suggestion to see if it would have a better reaction here.

I'll watch a naked woman do magic any day of the week as long as she isn't you-know-who doing you-know-what with a thumbtip.

I notice Magic Mara has disabled comments for her "Tribute To Tina Lenert" and yes, that is definitely an "Inspired by Lance Burton" act...

I do wonder though, with all the good material the Dutch Magic Unlimited has, why they feel free to copy the acts of other well known performers?

It really damages their reputation.

I doubt that they'd EVER be invited to perform at FISM and if they entered the comp with those acts they'd be booed off the stage.

If memory serves, the late John Ritter dubbed the Dutch Magic Unlimited, "The Hanson's of magic". Now Hanson may have been silly and trite but they were at least original. "The Milli-Vanilli of magic" might have been more appropriate.
It's bad enough when the local hack who never performs outside his/her home town does stuff like this. If an act seeking international status does it, it is even more abominable. At least credit the originator of the stuff you borrowed sans permission. It might not lessen what you did, but at least you don't let people think you came up with it yourself while presuming the real creator is the rip-off artist.

I think it is so sad that this video continues to play on youtube. It was posted in 2006! I contacted Chris back then and yet Mara and friends continue to rip off material. I would hope if Chris would contact youtube that they would remove the offending video first and then go after these thieves...

Why don't you try and contact them and talk about it directly with the people concerned ? Has Chris Hart contacted them ?
Has Tina contacted them ? tho these videos are old i am sure if they really cared they would act upon it if not why patent them in the first place ?

The law does not protect most magic acts or tricks. You can't contact YouTube and produce a document that shows legal ownership, like copyright or trademark infringement. Without legal proof that the person is stealing something you own, you can't get videos withdrawn.

My only thought while watching the Magic Mara piece
was that she should be arrested for "mugging".

Actually I have seen them yank videos for specious 3rd party complaints based on copyright issues (which often turn out to be a mask for political differences, but that is a subject for another forum)

Even tho this happend many years ago if everyone feel so strongly about why has nothing been done ? i saw some post about this on Magic Cafe too but have no-one done anything ?

The creators are the ones who need to sort it out but might it be in thier intrest to keep the videos up there ?

Could there be a hidden agenda ?

It sound very suspicious to me that non of them have sent them a letter etc. If they really felt passionate about thier act and how they have been "Ripped off" i am sure they would do something about it right ?.

I see comments on this forum that chris wrote why did he not just write directly to them ?

Not in my wildest dreams can I imagine what kind of "hidden agenda" Christopher Hart or Tina Lenert might have in wanting rip-offs of their signature acts to stay on YouTube.

Common guys, if she is going to steal something,she should steal something better. If I were to steal something of Christopher's, I'd steal that Torn and Restored Music paper routine. She should be arrested for being an idiot.

well hidden agenda i mean like david copperfield gets all the videos he don't want on youtube he has them taken off. so chris and tina can flag the video in terms of copyright and have them take off. It been like 4 years or 3 years since it was posted action has to be taken by the person who it affects.

Chris did comment on this when the issue was first raised and indicated that he was consulting with an attorney.

he just gave a very generic statement to a friend to post. We are all ranting about this Chick which i find terribly sexist anyway but just to round it of it just alot of ranting but action and what good is that ?

David Copperfield's videos were from copyrighted television shows. As the owner of the copyright, he can ask YouTube to have them removed.

magicuk, I think you should try using capital letters and punctuation in your posts so your meaning is more clear.

The same as yourself I am entitled to my personal opinion, I took part in this forum because I saw the subject (Topic) and found it rather intresting so i took part.

Your assumption that Chris Hart doesn't care about this is not true. He cares greatly.
