Jon Armstrong and FISM
I heard that Jon Armstrong is competing at FISM and that he is being sponsored by the Castle. He is great and I am sure he will do well. Does anyone know who else has signed up to compete, either through SAM, IBM or the Castle?

No list on the FISM site. Does anyone have any answers?

I believe the Academy of Magical Arts is also sponsoring Arthur Trace; I'll double check to confirm.

I saw Jon Armstrong performing at The Castle last year and I was extremely impressed. His technical skill was way up there but, most importantly, he really connected with the audience and had a great stage presence.

There is nothing on the FISM site about who is competing. Anyone know any US people?
Re: Jon Armstrong and FISM
Armstrong fooled the hell out of me at WMS. Incredible skill and an excellent demeanor with his audience.
Arthur Trace was my pick to win the International stage competition, but alas, it was not to be.
I wish them both the best of luck.

Any answers yet as to who else is competing?
Re: Jon Armstrong and FISM
I heard some British guy that is a lawyer, and now a magician member of the Castle is going to compete...

Rick Merrill will be there. He won both IBM and SAM last year. Not only does he have a great act but he has killer chops AND he is hillarious. He'll be hard to beat. : )

That would be great news if it's the card mutilator I think you're referring to, but I would be a little surprised (pleasantly though).Originally posted by TheMagicApple:

Magic Circle members can see who the Magic Circle has decided to sponsor in the latest minutes. The rest of you will have to wait, I'm afraid!
Re: Jon Armstrong and FISM
I have been told that this is the list that the AMA are sponsoring for FISM:
John Armstrong
Arthur Trace
Ivan Amodei
Gregory Wilson
Chase Curtis
Rocco
Rick Merrill
Any news re: IBM and SAM sponsorships?

Re: Jon Armstrong and FISM
After seeing him do close-up at the castle this week, without even doing his FISM act, I think he has a great chance. He really connects with the audience.
Re: Jon Armstrong and FISM
I was sorry to have missed Jon's lecture this past Sunday at the Magic Castle.
I was too sick to go.

If you want to see some of Jon's card work and an interview (plus a bit of Lennart Green's snap deal), go to Jon's website and click video. The link features the trailer reel I produced for a documentary project I was working on ( Jon was one of three magicians worldwide who were chosen to participate -the project was to follow the magicians as they prepared for, and competed at, FISM 2006).
Re: Jon Armstrong and FISM
Having known Jon since the late Magical Empire and dragging my friends to see him at two WMS AND being an old magic fart (30+ years of magic demo-ing), I can honestly say that Jon is one of my Favorite performers. His hold on the audience is wonderful! I hope for him the best in the contest!
