2022 AMA Awards Reception

Postby Dustin Stinett » September 28th, 2022, 10:14 pm

The Academy of Magical Arts held it first live awards gathering since 2019 last night at the Avalon Hollywood Theater. It was not called an "Awards Show" because no member-voted showroom awards were presented, only the following Fellowships:

LITERARY FELLOWSHIP to Jamy Ian Swiss
SPECIAL FELLOWSHIP to David Sandy & Lance Rich
SPECIAL FELLOWSHIP to Connie Boyd
SPECIAL FELLOWSHIP to Gloria Dea
SPECIAL FELLOWSHIP to Gary Beutler
AWARDS of MERIT to Shoot Ogawa and Simon Coronel
SPECIAL FELLOWSHIP to Tannen’s Magic Camp
JUNIOR AWARDS to Aaron O’Brien and Gonçalo Sousa
CREATIVE FELLOWSHIP to Martin Lewis
AWARD of MERIT to AMA Technical Crew (for their work on the "Behind the Bookcase" presentations during the shutdown)
PERFORMING FELLOWSHIP to Charlie & Sherry Frye
MASTERS FELLOWSHIP to Max Maven

Congratulations to all of the recipients.

Genii will have full coverage in the upcoming October/November double issue.

Do these fellowships include a financial component? How much?
Or are they simply recognition and honor?

Regardless, congratulations to all of the honorees.

If so, Shoot Ogawa must be a millionaire…
