Obie O'Brien - RIP
Having been wrapped up in a home project (and will remain so) for several weeks, I have not been watching the Forum much, so I must say that I was surprised to see that there was no mention of the passing of Obie O'Brien here. Say what you will about him (and I can say plenty), but he did keep the FFFF going for decades, and that's quite a legacy. RIP Obie.

Re: Obie O'Brien - RIP
Obie was a great friend. I will miss him dearly. He was very helpful to me. He did so much for the world of magic. FFFF will always be my favorite convention ever. I met many of my magic friends there. Obie, I will never forget you. RIP, my friend!

Re: Obie O'Brien - RIP
This is very sad news. My sincere sympathies to Obie's family and friends. I never had the pleasure of meeting him, but the name "Obie O'Brien" has been a fixture and a legend in the magic community as far back as I can remember. I hope he is continuing to do what he loves and is "working the room" in the great magical beyond.

Re: Obie O'Brien - RIP
One thing I loved about Obie was that damn whistle, something he had imported from his sports career into FFFF. When he blew it, everyone came to attention as if General Patton had just yelled, "AHHHH--TENNN--SHUN!"

Re: Obie O'Brien - RIP
As much as I hated Obie's whistle at 4F, I loved Obie. Wonderful human being. I will miss him.
Re: Obie O'Brien - RIP
I still remember the year at the Forks we had all been given our own plastic whistle. When Obie blew his whistle, we all blew ours and then threw them at him.
It will not be the same without the "head forker" there.
