R.I.P. Sol Stone

Postby Michael Rubinstein » March 4th, 2021, 2:42 pm

I just got confirmation that another coin magic legend, Sol Stone, passed away last night in his sleep. He was 98 yrs old. He had been on a treatment for a reccurance of his cancer, but seemed to be doing well. He knew everyone, and every magician who grew up in New York benefited from the wisdom of this kind and humble man. So sad, as yet another wonderful person has left this earth.

Very sad news. But if he was suffering, it may have been a blessing in a way - especially passing peacefully in his sleep. And he did have an extraordinarily long life on this plane. Hopefully he's sessioning with Roth in the next...

Damn. I'm gonna crack open the book this weekend and revisit his work. Maybe watch the video Meri Yedid produced. Such a wonderful mind.

Simon Lovell lectured at PCAM many years ago and he was talking about a move of Mr. Stone's which led to him sharing the story of Mr. Stone doing magic for a child when he was overseas during WWII. There wasn't a dry eye in the house.

He shares the story on his Methods Behind the Madness set, if anyone missed it.

This quote of Sol's was posted elsewhere by Steve Cohen. How sage!!
"If you labor like a mouse and give birth to an elephant, that's magic. But if you labor like an elephant and give birth to a mouse, that's tragic."
