Film Version of "In & Of Itself"?
In explaining why he hasn't been on Twitter as of late, Frank Oz (ironically) tweeted that he has been "Pretty busy editing the movie version of IN & OF ITSELF with Derek D ..."
We'll just let that speak for itself.

I hope he makes an appearance himself in the movie. He was great in The Blues Brothers.

How is it snarky? Have you never played the game ‘who would play you in a Hollywood movie?’
Anyone who reads my comment as an insult is looking for an insult.

No, I have never played that game. And it sounds like a lame "after the fact" excuse for a snarky comment.

Re: Film Version of "In & Of Itself"?
How is it a snarky comment? Bill mention Oz being in the movie. So it made me think, ‘will Derek be in the movie.’ (Not as a real question, just as a lark).
I can’t even imagine how it could be an insult? Frankly, I’m insulted you would think if I wanted to insult someone I would have come up with such a lame one.

And please - if I’m going to insult someone I’m going to do it and not hedge after the fact.

I'm insulted by your seeming lack of insult.

I will happily own up to being as daft as a brush, but I'm not stupid.
That said, I genuinely have no idea which Derek is under discussion. I can make some guesses based on nothing at all beyond "Derek". But I won't.
I hope someone will take pity on a poor old chap and lighten me.

An update on the "movie" from slashfilm.com:
"There’s no word on a release date yet (hilariously, Oz is now pretending in his tweets that the movie version doesn’t exist at all) ..."

Re: Film Version of "In & Of Itself"?
I never got a chance to see "In & Of Itself".
Do those of you who did think this will translate well as an HBO or Netflix feature? (Those were the two possible venues mentioned in one of the articles Dustin cited).
I'm asking because I thought Ricky Jay's 52 Assistants translated pretty well and was still very accessible as a TV special, much like a traditional magic show.
From what I've read about I&OI it seems like a much more personal, intimate experience with much less magic. I wonder if viewing it at home would be effective.
Thoughts?

I don't think it will translate directly to film from stage; on the other hand , I think Derek is smart enough and shrewd enough to find a way to make it work.

It would have to be framed differently than a simple recording of the show. Without tipping too much, before the show the audience members chose cards from a vast display: "I AM A SHAMAN," "I AM A TEACHER," "I AM A LOVER." These cards played a part several times in the show. Perhaps if we followed a few audience members from pre-show to after, the TV viewer could get a sense of the piece. There are card effects that will translate easily. And there's something that happened outside the theatre that would be great to include. But I've said enough.

There is a moment of enormous misdirection that would not work on TV. Or it could simply be explained as a special effect. Either way, I assume it will be changed.

The film's "World Premiere" is on the South by Southwest (SXSW) Festival schedule.
Re: Film Version of "In & Of Itself"?
I thought Brad's comment was a reference to a similar story, years ago, about Blackstone on Broadway, when Blackstone Jr. was taking his show there.
"And who will be playing the part of Blackstone?"
"And who will be playing the part of Blackstone?"

I would pay good money to see that film.
I would pay even more money to see Derek voicing a Muppet version of himself, because Muppets are awesome.

You would have to.
