Awesome Minneapolis convention is a month away!

Postby kmtrombly » May 20th, 2019, 10:18 am

A very cool convention, that is slipping under the radar is set in Minneapolis for June 20th-22, The Magic Collector's Expo will feature. lectures, some great dealers and shows in a world class city at a great hotel. Bill Smith and David Sandy have put this together, and whether you are a collector, have an interest in magic history, or simply want to immerse yourself in magic with a bunch of like minded friends, you ought to come to this. My talk on unusual poster images will feature some posters you have never seen before, and I am just one of a number of speakers. This will be the perfect weekend for the hardcore folks on this forum who live and breath magic. You can get more info here;

When I put on my Darrell-Hammond-as-Sean-Connery-on-SNL-Jeopardy hat, the url looks like "Magic Collector Sexpo". Which would be different.

Bill
I know that you have gone to collectors' conventions -- and for those who have not, you don't have to be a collector to enjoy them. These kinds of gatherings are becoming less and less common, so if you can attend, this will be a special weekend.
And yes, Bill, a "collector Sexpo" would be different.....

I'm sure it will be a great get-together. Right now, it doesn't look like I'll be able to attend, but I will be there in spirit. There's much to be said for the big, something-for-everyone conventions like IBM Annual or Magic Live, but the small focused ones with hardcore attendees are also fun.

"Magic Collector Sexpo"?

If the stories I heard about the MCA Weekends at The Diplomat Hotel are true,
it may not have been far from the truth for some back then.

I'm very much looking forward to it. My wife bought us tickets. John Gaughan's column is her favorite part of Genii.

My wife and I were also looking forward to it. She was excited about the supper club dinner and show and train trip there but life intervened and now we can’t go.

Oh well, going to the one in Vegas next year.

Wish I could be there. Falls right before I leave for my summer trip, and that would be cutting it a little too close. I hope everyone has a great time.

Can someone who attended give a brief review of this? My wife and I had to forfeit our tickets due to my wife’s sudden illness. We would really appreciate hearing what we missed.
