Elizabeth!

Hey guys,

Dig this wonderful, powerful performance by Elizabeth on Britain's Got Talent.

She insists upon giving only her first name. I like her confidence.

"I want to show you something special and make the impossible possible."

None of us need to say more than that.

By taking her performance off the stage, she cleverly disguised her effective applications of old school, spook-show stagecraft.

She elevated a "slum" card case trick into an experience that amazed and frightened her participant, the judges and the crowd. In my twisted mind, it doesn't get much better than that.

Enjoy!

And yet she went on, and on...

The staging was nice though. I'd like to see her do The Spirit is Willing... to Write.

People say that Bizarre Magick is a dead part of magic--that no one can really do it since Tony Andruzzi died.
This woman was brilliant. Whoever wrote and staged the piece knew exactly what they were doing. Perfect.

She did a very nice job. Problem with a show like that you really have to pull out the stops on your first performance. Wonder what she's got planned next?

Wonderful stuff. I suspect she has her next step or two at the ready...

My guess, since they know what the steps are going to be, is that they have the first three appearances figured out before they start.

For her next appearance she brings Cowell's brain back to life.

Most of the magic acts and circus acts on BGT this year have been “booked” rather than found and have a story arc consultant/producer responsible for ensuring they are fully prepare for every stage of the show and that the tv company don’t end up with surprises or unfilmable sequences.

Here's a short creepy effect. You show the spectator two old keys and claim they are Victorian Coffin Keys. In the Victorian age, people afraid of being buried alive, were buried with these keys so they could get out if they woke up underground. These keys are attuned to the dead.

You turn your back and the spectator writes the name of a dead person on a piece of paper, folding it up. Still with your back turned, you hand him one of the keys to place on the paper. Now he writes the name of a person who is alive and folds it up. You hand him the second key.

Now you turn around and pick up one of the keys. It lies on your palm but nothing happens. You pick up the other key, it mysteriously moves itself indicating this is the paper with the dead person's name.

For the method, you'll have to find one of these sets of keys:

https://www.lybrary.com/the-key-to-borl ... 21850.html

The set is gaffed: one key will not turn over using the usual method, the other will. You simply hand the spectator the turning key for the dead name.

Is it just me? I find the Got Talent shows are just unbearable to watch. Even with a good act, the stupidly scripted, awfully acted inserts of the judges and audience kill any appreciation I might have had. It's really at the first grade level. Good luck to Elizabeth, and here's hoping she gets to show what she can do in a better forum.

Oh yes, I assume that everything is scripted and prejudged and the judges are all acting (badly). But the magic still exists as a thing, and it can be a good thing.

I agree with you 100% Jack! I told my wife that I won’t (can’t) watch the show anymore and if I want to see an act, I can check it out on YouTube later.
