Deep into Dr. Kuhn's book and thoroughly enjoying it. This book is written for magicians; non-magicians will likely find it tedious. I am gratified to discover that he and some of his colleagues have determined that misdirection is far more encompassing than previously understood. He writes, "...misdirection is an umbrella term describing a range of psychological principles that prevent the audience from discovering the true method and focus the audience's attention on the effect." This definition is provided after a detailed discussion of the question, "What is magic?" I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in the subject. Agree or not - and I am a believer in exposing oneself to contrary beliefs and opinions - the book will inspire serious thought about our magic.
An aside: alternating between Dr. Kuhn's book and Sr. Tamariz's The Magic Rainbow is a real head trip!
