I just received an e-mail from Wittus Witt that Paul Potassy has passed away at age 94 yesterday.
I was introduced to him through a good friend at FISM 1997 in Dresden.
May he rest in peace.

Paul Potassy has passed away
Re: Paul Potassy has passed away
I am really, really sorry to hear this. I have very, very, very, very few heroes in magic. He was one of them.

Mr. Potassy was a great performer with a fascinating life story. I really respected him and his work. Sorry to hear he has passed.

I have seen him seen him on 4 different occasions performing in French, German, Spanish and English. A different language on each occasion all with equal fluency. Here he is working in English at 85 years old!

He has the best version of the razor blades I have ever seen. One of his famous feature signature tricks. But here is my favourite video of him. The pickpocketing is fantastic. His fluency in Spanish is nearly as amazing as his magic. I have seen him chatter away in German with equal fluency. I am in awe at his mastery of languages.
