Don Wiberg on Magic Shops in Old Chicago and the Chicago Round Table History

Postby Scott Wells » September 6th, 2018, 5:51 pm

Past International President of the I.B.M., Don Wiberg, is a long-time resident of Chicago. He has also been involved on the local (and international) magic scene for decades. So, over the years he has met, known and worked with many of the greats and legendary figures in our art.

In this two part podcast, Don talks about some of the brick and mortar magic shops in "old" Chicago, many of which have shuttered their doors decades ago. At one point, there were several in downtown Chicago just blocks from each other. In fact, Don worked at one of the magic shops (Riley's) which he discusses in Part One of our chat. He also tells stories about some of the original members of the Chicago Magic Round Table who were depicted in the Salvatore Sala drawing of the Chicago Round Table. Although Don didn't know all 108 people depicted in the drawing, he did know many of them and shared many personal recollections that lap over into Part Two of our chat for the podcast.
