The Genii Convention 2019: Date CHANGE

Postby CraigMitchell » April 16th, 2018, 1:57 pm

Orlando, Florida.

Because of the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur, we are moving the date of the Genii Convention in October 2019 (not this year, but next year) to one weekend earlier: the 2, 3, 4, and 5th (with workshops on the 6th).

What a wonderful coincidence.

Next year is my first year of retirement. We’ll be in Mexico City visiting my son in October, so a perfect opportunity to attend the Convention. A bit closer than having to make a special trip form Australia.

We’ve paid the deposit to reserve our spot but haven’t received a confirmation email. Payment appears on my credit card statement. I’ve checked spam folders etc. Should I have received an email?

I'll be there! Haven't missed one yet.

Richard,
Is there a promo code for the hotel to reserve online, or do we need to call the hotel to get the convention rate?

For the purposes of planning air travel and hotel reservations, when will you have some idea of a start time on 10/2 and an end time on 10/5? Specifically trying to figure out if I should fly in the night before (10/1) or the morning of (10/2). Same on the back end -- fly out late 10/5 or need to get in every last minute of convention time, stay overnight and fly out the next morning.

My suitcase is packed already and sitting by the door awaiting the grand departure to the convention -- can't wait!

The convention starts on Wednesday the 2nd at 4pm when the dealer room will open, exactly as in previous years. First lecture or show of the evening will likely be 7:00 or so.

Plan to depart on Sunday the 6th if you don't wish to register for any of the workshops that day. (The convention will run to midnight on the 5th.)

Before I register, I wanted to know if there is the possibility of a refund or partial refund up to a certain date?

Yes, there will be. I just haven't picked the date yet. It will be somewhere between April and June of 2019.

I sure hope you re-book that elderly piano player you had last year. He played songs my grandmother really enjoyed.

That's Penn & Teller's almost-elderly piano player.

I played you My Romance, Someday My Prince Will Come, and other Evans stuff.
