Magus Utopia

Postby AJM » February 28th, 2018, 12:41 pm

The programme for the Edinburgh Magicfest in May has been released today and I see the Magus Utopia troupe will feature in the Gala Show.

Did anyone catch their convention closing turn in Blackpool this year - if so, what were your thoughts?

Not my cup of 'Rosie Lee' I'm afraid and I was conscious of several folks leaving the theatre before the ensemble had reached the end of their set.

Cheers

Andrew

They have several different acts/routines - the nightmares act is much more traditional illusion show (with a narrative that gives it a purpose) whereas at the other end of the spectrum the “love after death” act (as seen at Blackpool this year) is very out there and unrepresentative of their other material.

It’s a quirk I’ve noticed of all Dutch illusionists - they get a career doing tricks but they all seem to try and be artistic and theatrical once they’ve achieved a level of fame.
