Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this book? Or if there was ever a review of it in the magic magazines?
I don't mind impractical material. But I am not so keen on magic that is overloaded with blood and props.
As such - I am curious what you all think of the material in this compilation? It is a magazine I never see discussed much.

Re: The Compleat Invocation
It's been a big seller for me for many years. The magazine contains a wide variety of material, not just Bizarre Magick. Needless to say, there's quite a bit of mentalism, but also varioius kinds of other magic. Andruzzi really was an ingenious person and like all good periodicals, Invocation really bears the personality of its editor. It's great stuff. I don't even know if we have any left in stock at this point, so this isn't a pitch.

Do you have all three volumes for sale?
It seems the third volume is hard to get hold of.
Cheers!

Joe, this set is part of my "five-foot bookshelf" of mystery entertainment. I've referred to some books as a sort of talisman; just having it sparks the creative process. While there's loads of stuff you may not use as written, the methods and ideas will surely provide food for thought.

I don't know what we have. You'd have to ask Margret in the office.

Tony had a great style of storytelling, so even if you never end up performing effects from the magazine, you will enjoy reading it.
For those interested in obscure trivia, the layout for the New Invocation was originally done by traditional cut and paste.
Eventually, we graduated to Microsoft Word 1.0, and finally made it to QuarkXpress. Ahh, memories.

Re: The Compleat Invocation
Well - I finally got round to buying this book. I will get the third volume as well assuming I like the first two volumes.
Just finished Eugene Burger's introduction - nice to see him give some recommendations as to what tricks he liked. Always useful for collections like this.
I remember Richard Kaufman doing a superb job with that with his Collected Almanac book.
Just wanted to start up this thread again so that I will remember to post back here as I work through the book.
