According to the report, it seems like some allegedly suboptimal quality control at the playing card manufacturer possibly came back to bite the casino.

Hell, he has been sued before and admitted that he was edge sorting. He then insists that a certain brand of cards be used, and he (surprise) wins over an extended period of time. The casino can't blame anyone but itself at this point.

I concur. I wonder why the casino would agree to such terms--another news story stated that his Asian escort made the dealer turn over the cards in a particular way to keep the edges in a particular orientation. Wouldn't there have been a pit boss supervising such a high stakes game to prevent such shenanigans?

The one positive of this story for me was that it made me pull Forte's "Poker Protection" off the shelf to look up edge sorting (starts on page 202; "Casino Game Protection" briefly mentions these strategies as well on page 461).

The positive was reading about all the other cool marking systems detailed in the text--I love these books! :)
