Wow -- this looks to be good.

Will this be entry #1 in Dustin's 2014 year-end review?

The Table of Contents is quite ambitious and the first piece is remarkable indeed... Looking forward to spending a year with Mr. Hobbs...

For lovers of card magic, Stephen Hobbs new site is just wonderful.

As for a look at his face, I got to see the whole package in person when he visited my New York apartment about 30 years ago! We "sessioned" for a couple of hours. First (and last) time I ever did that (me being something of a recluse).

Wonderfully designed site with simple, clear UI and a stellar first instalment. I never work on a table, so it's not for me, but it is really bloody clever and easy to boot!

Thanks for sharing Mr Hobbs.

The countenance of the enigmatic Mr. Hobbs can also be glimpsed in the Jack Carpenter "Sessions" DVD, Volume 1

This is a terrific website! Thanks, Mr. Hobbs!

The first week's item would make an excellent out for the classic force.

Hmm - I'm hearing the sound but not seeing the video, anyone else experiencing something similar. I'm using IE11.

Would welcome any thoughts.

Andrew:

I am getting both sound and picture but something appears to be not quite right. There is a spinning wheel in the center of the video which will not go away and the video freezes and I have to press the play arrow repeatedly.

He may want to be contacted about these matters so he can make necessary corrections.

Hmmm... I just tried both week 1, and all three week 2 videos, and they worked fine for me on IE11, Chrome and Firefox.

Hmmm -strange one indeed, thanks all for checking.

Seems to work ok with Firefox - however still no joy with IE11 either in or out of compatibility mode.

Haven't checked out Week 2 as yet but the Week 1 content is very good indeed.

Cheers

Noted this with interest on the Introduction page (italics mine):

"Hobbs is also the co-author, along with Stephen Minch and Jamy Ian Swiss, of The Long Goodbye, soon to be released by Hermetic Press, a two-volume project devoted to the card and coin magic of the late Geoffrey Latta."

It's been a long time, but I believe that Hobbs wrote the original manuscript when the Latta project was still one of mine.

In case no one noticed, the site has been closed down, but the news is still very good. The entirety of the site will be released by Vanishing, Inc. as a set of DVDs and booklets this coming February. The profits on the sale of this set will be donated to charity.

Thank you again Mr. Hobbs!

Yes, I'd spotted that Dustin.
Mr Hobbs' Technical Toolbox has been an excellent resource over the past 12 months.
I would highly recommend the DVDs and accompanying notes when they are released in the New Year.
Also good to hear the profits on all sales will be donated to charity.

I'm another big fan of the site, and of Stephen's work. I followed faithfully for the entire year and I believe there was somewhere in the neighborhood of 170+ video tutorials over the course of the year, clearly demonstrating and explaining an enormous amount of very clever, useful (often brilliant) material. I'm looking forward to having access to everything all over again when the DVDs are released.

Wonderful, practical material. Many of the moves are very versatile, and Mr. Hobbs often provides some great routines using them. He's an excellent teacher, and I had no trouble adopting several of the handlings. Very responsibly credited as well. Already ordered the DVD's.

I was practicing some of the material on Technical Toolbox before the site's free period ended. Now I regret not taking advantage of it more when it was free! I'd gladly purchase this set though. The material is 100% workable and the proceeds go to charity as well.

A small word of warning. The set I got from them was computer burnt and not factory pressed. It's their product and they can do as they please and I was told they do this when they run short and don't have the necessary demand for an additional run.

They played OK on the computer, but had enough errors that I could not convert them to iso's. This may not matter to anyone else.

This may not be true now. I have no way of knowing.

Interesting. You might want to check the download section for your account, where are all the video files already exist and can be downloaded without conversion. I downloaded them to my phone and laptop and it's really convenient having them available in that fashion.
