HURRICANE!

Postby Richard Kaufman » August 27th, 2011, 4:55 pm

Just a note to everyone that because of Hurricane Irene, we have been advised by our utility company (the morons who go by the name of Pepco) that we will lose power sometime today and it will be out for DAYS.

So if you are trying to contact me or the Genii office and get no response, it's because we have no power.

Not yet, at almost 9pm. Storm must be moving more slowly than expected. At least I got in a movie with the littlest Genii before her bedtime.

Aftermath: no power from 9:30 PM until 11:00 AM; not bad, BGE. The "damage" caused by Irene is viewed as lingering anxiety in the wake of media-generated, hyped-up fear. Another reason why I never obtain info from television. Take it from me: limit your TV to movies, NFL, MLB, and Masterpiece Mystery. You'll live better.

We lost power for one minute at about 1:30 am. But plenty of other people in our neighborhood and nearby areas have no power at this moment.

Proving conclusively that PEPCO knows better than to mess with the Chief Genii.

Here in NH we got a lot of rain and a little wind, but just across the river in VT, is a real mess. Loss of houses, bridges, and roads all over the state.

My electricity was out for just about 26 hours. It has just been restored. Now I'm off to drink my popsicles before they refreeze!

We're still without power at home (54+ hours) due to a tree that fell down onto the power lines on our street. Had a tree fall in our backyard that just glanced the side of the house, taking out a couple of gutters and some minor damage to the siding.
