CNET is reporting that Canada is switching to plastic money. The new bills should be harder to counterfeit and last 2.5 times longer, if you're looking to get a headstart on a topical bill change presentation.
Let's see if I can embed the photo.

Re: New Canadian Money
For those non-Canadians who are wondering--the old guy on the left is Luthor Chickenfug, the first man in Canada to fly his portrait on top of a Zeppelin. The woman in the drawing, center, is looking through the Beaver Spectroscopy Detector (or BSD) that is used extensively in Canada to detect humor in Canadian-made situation comedies. To date, none has been found.

Re: New Canadian Money
What does this mean for tricks like Bank Night?
Does the new currency smell like maple syrup when burnt?

Re: New Canadian Money
What this does mean is that all those tricks that require a bill to be burned will probably no longer be possible, since bills will now MELT rather than burn. I guess this might make new tricks possible.

Re: New Canadian Money
The Bank of Canada has posted a video about the new plastic bills and they actually look pretty cool (parts of them are transparent, etc.): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7chpllnU-To
Not sure whether these will fold up and fit inside a Thumb Tip. Could be the end of the Bill-Switch era. (back to Himber Wallets)

Seem ripe for, I believe it's called, a word in thousands book test. Spec peeks through the transparent window to the word at the top of the buildings spire.

Re: New Canadian Money
"word in thousands" - is that the name of the first known published use of the gaff where you have them look through something (hole in paper, hole in bookmark, paperclip...) to see a word at a freely selected page and location? Does this notion go all the way back to the knife/bookmark with folding gaff as well?

You guys are nuts. This will never work. People can't read in Canada--everything is explained with hand gestures and pointing. We only got our first dictionary last year and it only has four words.

If mylar were placed under the transparent section a version of the Paper To Money trick might work, the mylar acting like a mirror glass.
