Doug Henning’s Birthday

Postby Dustin Stinett » May 3rd, 2011, 12:14 pm

Doug Henning would have been 64 years old today. I never met him, but I still miss him as if he was a best friend.

Given that he was reentering magic prior to his death, Ill forever wonder what may have transpired had he not died. Though far from my first inspiration in magic, its still very fair for me to say that, due in large part to him, Ill forever wonder.

64 seems really young NOW especially when you consider he has been gone now for about 10 years.

Very Sad.

Yes Ryan, and he was only 52 when cancer killed him. Moreover, though, he was not yetor maybe just at40 when he retired from magic. So our collective memory of himparticularly our visual oneis that of a man just entering the middle of his life.

Yes Happy Birthday Doug. The first professional magician I ever saw perform live. At the height of his career he was probably the best known magician in the world. We miss you!

Happy Belated Birthday to Doug.

I have the letters he wrote talking about
the excitement prior to the opening of
"Spellbound." it's a nice piece of memorabilia
that I can carry on as if he is still with us.

I have always loved Doug Henning!

He was the first magician who I saw on TV and that image has stuck with me ever since. Fortunately, I got a chance to meet him before he passed away. For fans of Doug, You must read the John Harrison book, Spellbound!
