Terry was a friend. We rode back to London from the Blackpool convention two years ago and I laughed all the way. He will be missed.

Re: Broken Wand :: Terry Seabrooke
So sorry to see this . He was one my favorites. There is a lump of sugar stuck in my throat.
Re: Broken Wand :: Terry Seabrooke
I remember Terry's emotional reading of the Broken Wand for Billy McComb's memorial at the Magic Castle. And now this sad news.
Nancy Gray just IM'd me that Terry and Billy must be keeping them in stitches up there.
My sentiments as well. Goodbye Terry.

A true comic genius.
Re: Broken Wand :: Terry Seabrooke
Terry was simply the Best !!!
Met him at a british convention back in 2004...simply to funny.
He was very impressed with my Millennium Cups and commented that thre is now a set of cups with the "Right weight & dimensions to perform the Cups&Balls correctly"...thank you Terry
Terrys Burned Bill to wallet was considered the Routine of choice for many comedians/magicians Including Copperfield who I believe did it on one of his yearly TV Specials.
When I made an appearance in ther Vince Carmen show some yrs ago I remember also seeing Dan Tong do the bill routine..one of the Most entertaining routines ever, very well executed ,Entertaining..and Funny as hell.
so
God this is a real loss to the magic commuiity, its been a SAD time for many of us who know Magic history and grew up reading the names of so many of those whoes material we have used and made a career with.
When you finally meet someone like Terry at a Convention , club meeting , whereever and they know you as well well some how in a strange way it feels right and you get an idea of how small the Magic community really is.
This is another loss for our Art- Thank you Terry
Terry is most definitely MC-ing for a higher power .....
RIP Terry..Thanks you for the Laughs

Re: Terry Seabrooke Has Died
A comic genius, an entertainment hero and an inspiration for a generation.
Many others will have lifetimes of stories to tell about Terry. Unfortunately, I didn't know Terry that well. We only had a few brief encounters at conventions over the years. However, one of my happiest memories in all of magic was being spoofed by Terry at the S.A.M. convention in Milwaukee several years ago.
There was a Harley Davidson "Hog Rally," with over 20,000 bikers in town the same week. As the opening act at the convention, I decided to have to have some fun, with the help of the stage manager at the time, my good pal, Mike Miller. I was introduced, and as the curtain opened, instead of my music, the audience heard motorcycle engines rev'ing up. Then these women in pink leather - "The Hardly Angels, All Female Motorcycle Drill Team" - rode their bikes onto the empty stage in formation, with me riding on the back of the last one. I got off, they rode offstage and I proceeded with my bird act. At the end of the act, they came back on to pick me up, and we rode off together. Following the show, Terry said to me, "nice bit." Then he grinned. I was thrilled that THE Terry Seabrooke liked it.
Well, two nights later, he was to emcee/compere the closing show. He was introduced, and all of a sudden there was the sound of rev'ing motorcycle engines. The curtains parted, and Terry came out riding on a child's scooter, wearing leather chaps, a leather vest, goggles and a bike helmet, looking as cool as ever. After a moment of hysterical laughter from the house, two of the "Hardly Angels" came out, took back the leather stuff and the scooter. He looked at the audience and said his opening line, "take THAT David Oliver."
Thank you, Terry. That was special, and so were you.
My condolences to his family and to all whose lives he touched.

Terry was a great performer and a great man. We spent some time together a few years back and I'll never forget the fun we had. (Later we accidentally ran into each other in a bar at the Denver airport. We almost missed our flights!)
RIP, Terry.

Re: Terry Seabrooke Has Died
I am so deeply saddened by this news. Ron Wilson last month, and now Terry Seabrooke.
(And of course Billy McComb just four years ago. For some reason when I think of any one of them, I always think of all three. Perhaps because they were all from the UK?)
Just two nights ago I decided to watch--for the umpteempth time--a video of Terry performing his signature burnt bill in wallet routine. My last direct experience with him was at the combined IBM/SAM convention in 2008. He compered the banquet shows and did his usual bang-up job. I was able to speak with him a bit afterwards--who knew that would be for the last time?
Fewer and fewer of my magic idols remain among the living... :(

Re: Terry Seabrooke Has Died
When I think of Terry Seabrooke these days, I think of him as the emcee at one of the shows at the IBM in Reno in 2007 on that ENORMOUS stage. He was (his words) getting around on a stick, so his trek from wings to center stage and back was not easy for him. But he was in top form. "ARF ARF!"
The best memory from that show was him bringing a young boyten years old or soon stage for the Linking Rings. The boy was a perfect foil for him and he riffed and riffed; it was terrific.
I saw the kid in the elevator later. I asked the boy what it was like to be up there with Terry Seabrooke. It turned out that it was his first magic convention, so he was having the time of his young life.
He was with his parents who knew nothing about magic. They asked me if Seabrooke was famous. I let them know that their son had just spent several minutes on stage with a living legend and its a memory he should always hold dear because very few of us ever have that opportunity.
I hope that little boy is still doing magic. I hope that little boy reads of Terrys passing and I hope he remembers his time on stage with him fondly. I envy him.

I heard that it was standing room only at Terry's funeral. Any eyewitness reports?
