This has nothing to do with Luna's take on the effect, (which is lovely, and well-structured, I thought) but it occurs to me that if you're making hoops float in the air, shouldn't you pass a woman over them? :)

WOW! I'm sure the past masters of this routine would love this performance! Rock on Luna job very well done. I cannot even begin to think of many hours went into this effect. Wonderful just flipping wonderful! Excellent. Peace all.

Now there's an act in itself.

Wonderful vision, brought into existence, beautifully executed. Kudos to Luna and any illusionist consultants who may have been involved in development.

Well, I'm sure Victor Voitko (sp?) gets most of that credit.

It's not the prop, it's the magician. Yes, they're probably Voitko's rings. Not easy to do by any means, and hard to make look good. Give her the credit she deserves.

Interesting. I had never heard of the Voitko rings before, and responded to the clip as if it was a completely original piece by Luna and her team. Thanks for the correction.

Kudos and kudos to Luna, for execution and performance.

I'm assuming it's Voitko's: he created the Flying Rings and has been selling them for years, with ads in the major magazines a while back. It's possible that Losander has created a new version for his wife, but I don't know that.

I'm pretty sure that if you go to Voitko's website, or do a search on YouTube, you'll find a video of him performing the Flying Rings.

Here is a video of Voitko's routine:

In terms of Shimada's presentation--although the mechanics were executed skillfully, the total package (costume, attitude, music, etc.) just didn't work for me. However, that's just a personal opinion, and I'm glad that others are enthusiastic about it.

Chief Genii, there should be no question that the rings are Voitko's as Luna is quoted on the web site Erdnasephile has linked to (see above) thanking Viktor Voitko and advising that she performed the routine at the Magic Castle.
Personally I think for less than $600.00 this must be one of the better cheaper tricks.

The only person I've seen do it is Voitko, and it's beautiful.

A floating/linking ring routine was performed by Krystyn Lambert on the television show Masters of Illusion.

Krystyn performed Voitko's Flying Rings, as has Jorge Blass many times, recently at the Castle and an "It's Magic!" show in LA.

One of the most original Linking Ring routines I've seen in the past two years was perfomed by Malin Nilssen, and I think she performed it in competition at FISM. A three ring routine, beautifully done.

Best always,
Best,

Mark

It's four rings.

Here's a link to Malin Nilsson "Act 5", which includes a ring sequence:

Very poetic, and haunting music underscores her every motion.
