Soupy rocked! I watched him every afternoon after coming home from school.

The best was when he wrote "F" on a blackboard and asked Fang what letter it was.
"K" Fang responded.
Soupy repeated this a few times, always writing an "F" and Fang always responding "K."
Then Soupy said, "Fang, why is it that everytime I write 'F' you see 'K'?"

Funny dude. Say it aloud if you don't get it.

You can't beat the legacy of someone that always makes you smile when you think about them.

When Soupy's show caught on you never heard so many 13 year-old guys doing impressions of White Fang and Black Tooth. The girls rolled their eyes -- it was a great time!

I met Soupy when a group of us went to ABC to watch the taping of his show. It was a great experience and he couldn't have been nicer.

I just had to go over to Ebay and pick-up a few Soupy items. I just needed a fix or something. So true about just hearing his name and bringing a smile to your face.

One of my all time favorite TV shows was "Lunch with Soupy Sales" -- and I was in college at the time! (This was in New York City.)

Other favorites of the period were Chuck McCann (I actually helped him as a PA for a weekend at WPIX) and Zacherley ("Shock Theater with Zacherley" on WABC).

But Soupy was unique -- the inspiration for Pee Wee Herman and others. Remember the big cork in his wall marked "DO NOT TOUCH"?
Black Fang and White Tooth?

Not to mention his record, "Pachalafaka."

I told you not to mention Pachalafaka!!

Hmmm wonder if his two sons are going to put down the drumsticks and guitar and do some comedy?

Quick observation on this ...

Britney Spears made use of the same sort of word play in her recent song, "If You Seek Amy", as have many other musicians.

And as did James Joyce (in Ulysses) and Shakespeare.

Good read about it here:

It's a cheap laugh for adults - and quite the taboo for children which is what made it as groundbreaking as the game of twister.

It's probably like using decks of cards with positions from the Kamasutra.

Soupy ... is missed. Not only pushed the envelope but was so pleasant about it.
