Herbie Mann At The Village Gate is the seminal work on Comin' Home Baby.

I'll have to check that one out.

I have to say it has been a ton of fun talking about the Jinx with all the guys that contributed. More to come!

I note the irony of "Coming Home Baby" being discussed at the same time as whether Genii has come home. Definite evidence of the guiding hand of a supreme being moving the pieces on the celestial chessboard (or not).

The Jinx issue arrived in Indiana yesterday -- I assume by train, which is fitting -- and it's wonderful. Harry and Jon have created something really special. I also greatly enjoyed Tom Stone's "Of Dice and Men" and Paul Osborne's "The Corpse Came C.O. D." Just a fun issue.

I appreciate the kudos for the October issue, but the real congrats must go to Harry Anderson and Jon Racherbaumer for both generating the idea and bringing it to life.

While I suggested a one or two additional people to contact for contributions, and did a bit of proof-reading, that was the extent of my work. I'm always thrilled to be able to make Genii available when someone approaches me with great pieces like this.

A job very well done. The best for me was the mix of contributors. I am motivated to read the entire Jinx.

Michael Weber's piece is a fun read and something that sounds like it's worth trying too. I'll keep reading some every night. Yall did a superb job on it. Reading the Jinx and the Phoenix have long been a favorite pastime for me and this is working too. Thanks for taking it on.

The homage to The Jinx was spectacular. The attention to detail (I loved all of the "continued on page..." bits) was spot on, and the creators' reverence for both Anneman and The Jinx was palpable. In attempting to articulate my reaction to, and appreciation for, this wonderful gift, words simply fail me.

My heartfelt appreciation to all of those involved, particularly Messrs. Anderson and Racherbaumer.

I saw Michael Weber perform his trick about a month ago, and it was quite clever and looked amazing.

What do I think? I'm glad you asked, Richard.

I thought the The Jinx 75th Anniversary Celebration issue was worth the whole year's subscription...

...with the exception of one single line. And you, as Editor-in-Chief, should have never let that line reach print.

You know, I suspect, I'm referring to the last line of Mike Caveney's Unfettered Letters (p. 27) piece. Shame on you Mssrs. Caveney & Kaufman. The joking reference to Annemann's sad demise is horribly out of place in what is otherwise a remarkably well-done tribute to the man and his life's work.

Hi Richard, no, I wouldn't have known which line you are referring to (there's another line in a less noticable spot that some might question). Both Mike and Harry have a somewhat sardonic sense of humor (as did Annemann himself). While I wouldn't have written that line (or the one accompanying the photo page "Big Day Out"), I do recognize that it has become commonplace in our entertainment and society for this type of humor to appear. Sorry if you didn't like the line.

Finally finished reading the Jinx tribute. Like my first reading of the original it had to be digested in small doses. Thank you Harry and John.

Just got the December 1976 issue here in Canada. I called Bill Larsen to complain but apparently he's dead.
