If you're going to bash...

Is this show supposed to be a live version of Clive Barker's "Lord of Illusions"?

Now back to those lolcats - they're funny.

I don't think the people who would understand the references would really be watching much magic though. I have thought about doing a meme-themed story deck. Instead of Sam the Bellhop how about Boxxy Teh Camwhore?

Can't get much lower than a supposed magician offering fey criticism of CA via gossip column references. Why bother posting about a Swannabe who's just rated a timeout with Roger the alien on American Dad via FoxTV.

Criss gossip just makes us look mean and low - like /r/tards.

If you despise Criss Angel or want to dis him, be upfront and say how YOU feel.

Now how about some more lolcats?

It used to be said that one should not pick fights with journalists, people who buy ink by the barrel.

Now it should be said that one should not pick fights with gossip columnists who have 500,000 people following their Twitter accounts.

I fail to see how Criss picking a fight with Perez Hilton will translate into getting more paying customers into his theater.

If this potty-mouthed, pitiful excuse for a magician on the way down voices Cirque's disdain for their customers, I, for one, will not be attending any more Cirque shows until Criss Angel is replaced.

If this is Criss's attempt at publicity, he is worse at getting publicity than he is a magician. With that mouth I wouldnt even recommend him for a childrens birthday party.

Perez Hilton has 600,000 followers? Youve got to be kidding me. What is the world coming to?

In the grand scheme of things and how many people actually use the internet 600,000 isn't that much though.

But seriously..two posts in a row commenting on the language he uses?? I could see if he was shouting out racist comments or something but he pretty much used a fairly lightweight term. Granted it isn't the image that Cirque is probably looking for but at least he isn't afraid to be himself. Cirque will deal with him but it is just silly to act offended especially if you weren't there.

It's probably not the language so much as the attitude that drives it, which (unless there's some brilliant strategy at play that remains unperceived) doesn't seem to be working from any angle.

Perhaps...but we put up with all kinds of nonsense from magicians that we like. And when someone we don't like has a bad show we make sure to gloat about it. It does seem he is having a rough time and the show may be bad but odds are that after this whole thing is over he will still be working and not caring about what other magicians are thinking.

Before you can work, you have to have people you can work with. Criss has fired, driven away or just generally pissed off everyone who's ever helped him creatively. His contract with A&E is gone. He's blowing the biggest gig in the world. He went after the brand of being arrogant and hard to work with, and he's achieved it in spades. So, if and when this current situation ends, where exactly is he supposed to go? I suspect it's a good thing he has money in the bank...assuming, of course, that he does.

The problem I have with the Believe/Criss Angel debacle is that it's casting ALL magicians in a bad light.

This brings up a question that has been pinging in my brain. Does any one out there "in the know" have any knowledge about Johnny Thompson's current opinion about his former advisee? As someone who looks at Johnny as Magic's elder statesman and current occupant of the Vernon throne, I'm just curious if he has weighed in on the Chris the Bitch situation (pardon my French.)

Richard,

I'm sure you're right, and I'd like to apologize for asking for someone to tip his private thoughts on this matter. I just imagine that he is probably somewhat disappointed at this situation.

A lesson that it would appear that Criss never learned is the one about being nice to those you meet on the way up because they'll be the same ones you meet on the way back down. Further, having seen a clip of Perez Hilton's obnoxious rant about Miss California giving an honest answer to the question she was asked, I can only say that IMO Criss and Perez deserve one another. Both famous, both arrogant, both insufferable.
