What do you think "performance rights" is all about considering this is pretty close to David Copperfield's routine.

Are you asking that Copperfield's staff be informed so they can file a VERO injunction on the item?Originally posted by Terry Holley:

Re: What do you think about this effect?
I was just wondering if anyone who knows more than me had any information on this eBay offering and how it may relate to David's routine.
It seems a little odd to me!

It does to me also. I just saw David perform this exact effect about 6 months ago. The strange thing is that the ebay ad says that the performance rights are included. Also, anything connected with the licence plates are not included. It seems a little odd to me!
I wonder if there will be a follow up ad for the production of the grandfather's 1939 Lincoln with the licence plates mounted

Even stranger since Andrew Mayne had something similar in one of his books a couple of years ago.
It wasn't as clean, but it would work for Copperfield.

I heard back from Copperfield's folks and they are going after this.
Stay tooned.

The only really interesting thing about it is that there are no bidders!

Wait 'til 3 seconds before it closes... altho Kenner said they are going to see about shutting it down ASAP.

It seems probable this is a scam. The seller from Fargo ND has no rating with all zeros on the feedback chart. I think even neophytes would fear to tread here especially with a staring cost of $90.The only really interesting thing about it is that there are no bidders!

FARGO, ND?! Ha. That's one of two "safe house" cities in North America that protect sellers against pissed off customers ever knocking on the door.Originally posted by arnie:

The other city has to be Wallace, ID.

Actually, I think Chris Korn originated this effect long before DC ever did it.

Re: What do you think about this effect?
The story behind the origin of this effect is that David Copperfield purchased the rights from Gary Oullett, who claimed to be the originator. Then, after David and Criss Kenner worked on it for a long time to add the various other elements, including the car production, they heard that it was in fact Chris Korn's idea. Unfortunately no one could backtrack and confront Ouelett because he had died of a heart attack without warning in the interim.
This left Chris Korn in a ratty position, but I think eventually David did settle with him in some form.

Re: What do you think about this effect?
It looks like someone has bid on it.
If you read the description of this effect it doesn't clearly state that the prediction is a license plate. It just states that the prediction and and the numbers written down match.
True, it shows pictures of license plates but the description of the effect fails to mention license plates anywhere.
I'm not defending this item. In fact it seems fishy to me.
If you recieve anything at all from this auction, I'd bet all you'd get is:
'special envelopes, a ribbon, prediction sheets, and performance rights'
That doesn't sound at all like DC's effect. In fact the whole auction seems misleading to me anyway. Someone thinking this is "Lottery" will pay 90 dollars for something it's not and can't buy anyway.
