Help with Hindu Cups

Postby Joe Naud » January 11th, 2022, 11:42 pm

I recently purchased a set of beautiful Hindu cups and am looking to purchase some recommended reading on their history and developing a routine.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Peace,
Joe

A couple resources come to mind. Charlie Miller published a routine in Genii’s Magicana in No. 48, November 1968
Also there’s a booklet by Eddie Joseph which may be available through second hand dealers. Supreme published a booklet as part of their How To series which is available through lybrary.com.

Pete Biro produced a booklet on the cups. Also, if you can find video by the late Gary Kosnitzky, he had put a lot of work into the routine.

Miller's routine setup is in the November 1968 issue, with the handling described in the December issue.
If you are familiar with cigarette or thimble manipulation the basic actions of the cup load will follow.
There's a one-cup routine in Galloway's book The Ramsay Legend which could get you started.

How to get set up for doing the routine while sitting - and what to practice ... should be in the recent offering by Gary Kozintzky.
There are videos on YouTube of performances. Learning to avoid finger (or toe) flicking is well worth the effort.

It's important to remember that Indian fakirs performed this trick sitting cross legged on the ground.
