Help with 2 Houdini quotes

Postby Joe Mckay » November 30th, 2020, 5:40 pm

I am trying to track down the exact wording for a couple of Houdini quotes.

Please help.

1) Does anyone know the exact quote where Houdini says something along the lines of: The hardest thing to escape from is a thread two inches long tying your thumbs behind your back.

2) Does anyone know the quote where Houdini says he arranges his escapes so that they are no more dangerous than sitting alone in a chair in the middle of his living room.

I am sure I got close to the exact quotes above. But, I always like to use the precise wording since it usually expresses the idea better than I ever can.

Thanks!

Google is chucking up lots of results for the Houdini Needle trick (which uses thread).

And nothing is coming up when I search for the other quote. It uses too many ordinary words to really stand out.

I will try searching for lists of famous Houdini quotes, and see if that works.

Cheers!

The Houdini lists I have looked up are not helping me out. Although I did find some bonus quotes that I like.
