If you click on the Bill Malone clip at themagicwordpodcast.com, you will find Bill doing a card trick for Honor Blackman.

I understand the name Emma Peel came from the producers/writer (Brian Clemens?) wanting the female character to have 'M Appeal'.

(Yeah Baby yeah!)

And not to forget Joanna Lumley as Purdey in The New Avengers.

And probably best to forget Ralph Fiennes, Una Thurman and Sean Connery in The Avengers movie.

Please don't mention that abortion of a movie.

Some trivia. My favourite episode (and one detested the most by hardcore Avengers fans) is Look - (stop me if you've heard this one) but there were these Two Fellers…

The plot is about variety artistes in a retirement home murdering the board of directors of a company that wants to demolish it. The cast is made up of some fine comic actors and variety performers headed by Jimmy Jewel and Julian Chagrin as the murdering clowns.

Bernard Cribbins and John Cleese make an appearance along with ventriloquist Len Belmont and John Styles who went uncredited as the Punch & Judy performer. Here's a link to that episode https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6sd6c2

Sometime in the early 80's Julian Chagrin came to Dublin with his one-man show. The promoters forgot he was coming until a couple of days before. The venue was the Oscar Theatre, Ballsbridge, Dublin. The theatre manager hadn't ordered any oil for the heating. There were only twelve in the audience, I was nearest the front and six rows back. It was freezing and we all had our coats on. In addition to being winter, the rain was heavily pitter-pattering on the corrugated roof. Hardly the ideal conditions.

Yet when the curtains opened Chagrin came on as though playing to a full house at the London Palladium. Within twenty minutes we were taken into his world and roaring with laughter. It was the greatest example of professionalism I've come across. He's now retired and living in Israel.

It was bad, but we all watched it, so who's laughing all the way to the bank?
