2018 AMA Nominees

Postby erdnasephile » March 8th, 2018, 9:52 am

I think the 2018 AMA Award Nominees are all really great performers/lecturers, but I am bummed that Bebel didn't make the slate (again).

I’m sure it will be the usual suspects.

I, too, voted for Bebel and am (again) disappointed that the membership failed to nominate him.
I have posted the complete list in the Castle Happenings update: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=50517

It kind of depends how you judge a show. If you're strictly looking at technique, then yes, Bebel should be nominated. He probably has the softest touch when it comes to playing cards. But, if you're judging overall show, presentation, clarity of effect and transitions, then there's not much there. I've seen the show a few times and the effects are very convoluted to say the least. It also appears that all the effects are the same; a card continues to change to another card.

The good news is that there was a lot more variety for this year's nominations. About half the people nominated resident outside of Los Angeles and a few are international. Maybe things are improving.
