HI,
Tenkai´s Reverse Cards Mystery is published in Tarbells Course In Magic Vol. 1 p.215. But I can´t find the trick in the original Tarbell Course In Magic. That would mean that Tenkai´s Reverse Cards Mystery was published in 1941. Dos anyone know if Tenkai´s Reverse Cards Mystery has been published earlier somewhere else?
All the best
Sebastian

Re: Tenkai´s Reverse Cards Mystery
I can't find the exact effect anywhere earlier, but Martin Gardner's "Face to Face Fantasy" (12 Tricks with a Borrowed Deck, 1940, pp 7 - 10) is awfully close. It includes Tenkai's Optical Revolve to do the dirty work. It is, essentially, a two-phase version of "Triumph."
Tenkai's Optical Revolve also appears in "The Shuffle Reverse" by Walter Gibson (Two Dozen Effective Practical Card Tricks, 1927 pp. 37-38).

Mr Mullins,
Thank you for the anser. Should the Tenkai´s Optical Revolve then be credited to Tenkai? Shouldn't the "Tenkai´s Optical Revolve" be credited to Walter Gibson?
Allt the best

Maybe -- I've sent the references to conjuringcredits.com (Stephen Minch, Denis Behr, and others) and will defer to what they say.
Tenkai has been getting credit for 75 years. If credit actually belongs to Gibson, he can wait a little while for it.

No--it's Tenkai's. I've seen the original illustrations and description of it in Tenkai's notebooks in the early 1930s.

Re: Tenkai´s Reverse Cards Mystery
I am not sure. Tenkai traveled and performed extensively in the United States prior to WWII, so he certainly would have known Tarbell.
