An Update in the Marketplace Rules
There has been a change in the Collector's Marketplace Rules (there is a new #8). If you use the Marketplace, please read and follow all of these rules:
Collector's Marketplace Rules:
1. Caveat Emptor! (Buyer Beware!) All buyers and sellers assume full responsibility for the content and the outcome of these transactions.
2. You MUST insert your full name, address, phone number, and e-mail address into your post along with the list of the items you want to sell. Auction site ads do not require full contact information posted here.*
3. You MUST state a price for each item.
4. Absolutely NO Commentary regarding listings for items being sold HERE is allowed and such posts will be deleted. Comments regarding individual items being sold elsewhere, such as eBay, are allowed. Legitimate questions to the seller are acceptable.
5. You MUST limit current sales and auctions with multiple items to a single post listing all items therein.
6. While original videotapes and DVDs as purchased may be sold, NO COPIES of videotapes or DVDs may be sold. NO photocopies of manuscripts, booklets, books, or magic trick instructions may be sold. In short, if the item is not as originally manufactured, duplicated, or printed, do not attempt to sell it here.
7. The Genii Forum allows auction site announcements and links. However, we would very much appreciate it (though it is not required) if the seller would make note in the post’s subject line that it is an auction notification.
8.There shall be no "piggybacking" of ads allowed regardless of relevance or age except by the member who started the original ad/post.
9. Any violation of the rules will result in the immediate deletion of the ad/post. The seller should not expect to receive a “warning” prior to that deletion.
10. All rules and restrictions may change without notice. The Genii Forum retains the right to delete any and all posts its staff deems inappropriate.
*EBay and other known auction site announcements/links, the Forum Moderators, and some VIPs (as determined by Richard Kaufman and/or the moderators on an individual basis) are exempt. In each of these cases their contact information is the Genii offices.
These rules can always be found on the front page of the Marketplace where the subject, which is includes big bold type and hard to miss, says, "PLEASE READ THIS Before Posting a Marketplace Ad," here:

Thanks very much for your cooperation.

Re: An Update in the Marketplace Rules
As semi retirement approaches all too quickly, It is time to divest myself of a lot of "stuff" including two mentalist domain names and two other magic ones.
May I post this fact and that I am selling them through go daddy and to contact me for that info?
Thank you,
David

Re: An Update in the Marketplace Rules
I locked it because there are not supposed to be any comments when someone is selling something.

It's impossible to do that if you can no longer edit your original post.

In one topic, not necessarily a single post.

Re: An Update in the Marketplace Rules
Here is some clarification that I hope will make sense to everyone:
If your ad is old, you can place a second ad with no problem. Just make sure that the original one does not appear on the first page of "active topics."
The other (best) option is to "bump" the old ad by simply adding a reply of your own to it, and include any additions/changes you want in that. It's a matter of the number of threads, not posts. You can have as many ad posts as you want, as long as it is a single thread.
Another option, that several people have opted for, is to email/message me with a link to the original ad for me to delete so you can start all over.
Thanks,
Dustin

Re: An Update in the Marketplace Rules
I hope you don't end up deleting many old ads. They are a valuable archive of what stuff sells for. There have been many times that I've been interested in buying a book or something, and have been able to review previous sales on the Genii Forum and get some idea of what the market value is.

Re: An Update in the Marketplace Rules
A woman is selling her father's magic book collection on FB. He was an early member of the Castle, Paul Westerling. She will be moving cross country and would rather not take all the books with her. Would it be ok to post the FB link?

Re: An Update in the Marketplace Rules
My marketplace post of last evening was deleted. I reread the rules, thought I followed them exactly. I don't understand why. Any feedback. Thanks.

Re: An Update in the Marketplace Rules
I deleted it because you did not include your full name, phone number, email address, and street address. Pretty simple rules, and we are strict about it. Thank you.

Re: An Update in the Marketplace Rules
As per rule #2, "Auction site ads do not require full contact information posted here.*"
Each item I posted linked to an ebay listing that's why I didn't post contact information. How did I not follow the rules.

5. "You MUST limit current sales and auctions with multiple items to a single post listing all items therein." My question is: I am selling my collection of magic (50 years worth) and I will be selling at different locations and websites. I can not possibly list all my items on Marketplace. Can I list a few items on different posts at different times on the Marketplace?

Re: An Update in the Marketplace Rules
You should put your list up on a place like Google docs, or park a pdf online someplace, and then paste the link to it in your ad in Marketplace. Just make sure to follow the rest of the rules.

Re: An Update in the Marketplace Rules
While respecting that these are the rules, I have qualms about listing anything here.
Is there some "no-robots" mechanism in place on the server or embedded in the html to prevent data harvesters from collecting info from our own self-doxxing?
Also, has anyone had a break-in or other disagreeable results occur from listing items here?
Sorry if my qualms seem silly.

Re: An Update in the Marketplace Rules
No one has reported any deleterious effects from posting their information.
We require it because, before we did, we had some trouble with non-selling sellers and fraudsters. That stopped completely when we required people to post their personal information.
If you don't like it, don't sell anything here.

I have had two people from here try to con me and I’m going through PayPal to get my money back with one. And they were two recommendations from someone on here and I’ve only come back on after a while and not been on here much .

Re: An Update in the Marketplace Rules
I sent a message that a third person tried to co me . I sent to Richard Kaufman the details at Jaufman and company but not heard back. You have a lot of scammers on here it seems. Do you remove them
Re: An Update in the Marketplace Rules
With the hundreds of users of the Genii Forum, it's odd how some individuals seem to have nothing but issues, complaints, problems and otherwise negative things to say about their fellow users here on the forum.
Normally, when a person is the singular complainer out of a much larger group, looking in the mirror generally supplies the answer to the problem at hand.
