Anyone knows of any magic shops or anything magic in either Rome, Amalfi, Venice?
I'll be in Italy from October 19th to November 4th. If you have suggestion in any other city, let me know just in case.
Thanks.
Richard

Back in 1995, I think, Giovanni Beani started an Italian web Zine called Il Sortilegio. A blog related to it is here:

You might poke around and try a translation app to see what you can find.

Re: Magic in Italy?
Hi!
In Rome there are a few magic shops: Pianeta Magia (http://www.pianetamagia.it/) and Tra Palco e Realtà (http://www.trapalcoerealta.net/). Both sites are in Italian and their addresses are in "Dove Siamo" and "Come Raggiungerci". "Tra Palco e Realtà" has an address on a square, but it is actually on the road facing the Tiber at the side of the square...
Another shop is "Il Castello di Carte" (http://www.ilcastellodicarte.it/) which specializes in playing cards (but the owner, Mr. D'Agostini, stocks also other material). You have to call before, as it is not a shop where you can simply walk in.
In Rome there are two magic Clubs: the local delegation of CMI (http://www.clubmagico.it) and the I.B.M. Ring of Rome, Ring 204 (http://www.circoloillusionisti.it/). I don't know when you will be in Rome, but both clubs meet weekly and you may be able to attend one of their events - you may try to contact them via their website.
As far as I know, there are no magic shops either in Amalfi or Venice: you may find a joke shop selling some magic tricks. Neither city has a magic club either: these are in Naples and in Padova (for Venice).
Hope this helps, have fun in Italy!

I can highly recommend Tra Palco e Realta run by my friend Andrea Boccia. He has a museum in the shop as well and is one of the most enthusiastic lovers of magic, and magic history, I know.

Another recommendation for Tra Palco e Realtà. It's not far from St. Peter's Square and definitely worth a visit.
If you're in Milan there's Shaun Yee's shop (see http://www.shaunyee.com/en/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=3&Itemid=6 for photos).

Re: Magic in Italy?
Many moons ago I programmed a special Google Map application that allows you to locate magic shops, attractions, historical points of interest etc. around the world. The problem was that I didn't receive much help in adding information.
But I took this opportunity and entered all the magic shops for Rome mentioned here. If you want to check it out go to http://www.lybrary.com/magic_locator.php, type in Rome in the search box at the very top. Select 50 mi radius and you will get a map with the shops indicated.
For more information of how to use the magic map and how to add additional points of interest go here http://www.lybrary.com/magic-map-a-13.html

Thank you all. I had to postpone my trip to Italy to April 2014 but your information will certainly be helpful.
