You'll need to put the image you want to use on a website first (or find an image on a web site).

Then select "edit profile" under "My Stuff" near the top of the screen (or here: http://www.geniimagazine.com/forums/ubb ... =editbasic )

Enter the website for your avatar in the spot for "URL to your avatar" at the bottom of your screen (and check the box).

Joe, sorry but your instructions should work, but they don't. I've have tried adding avatars, all under 80 x 80 pixels, of both jpg and png file types. No luck. All I get is that stupid message "Improper Picture Type."

Ah. I see that now. Must be a security change on the server.

Seems like only the "stock avatar" work now.

That sucks. I used to have a nice avatar, and in the process of changing it, I now have NO avatar unless I want to be the bollocking Mona Lisa!

The URL method seems to work.

I finally got one to work too, but it seems very picky about what kind of URL it will take. Not sure what the requirements are though.

It won't accept anything from Photobucket.

What service did you use to host the photo?

In my case I just tacked it onto littleegyptmagic.com, so that isn't generally helpful. The image is a .jpg.

DROPBOX works perfectly. SImply make sure your Avatar is the correct size, pop it into your PUBLIC Folder, then RIGHT CLICK the photo to get the PUBLIC link to it. Use the PUBLIC link in your profile and it works perfectly.

Oh, and DROPBOX is a free service that gives you 2GB of space for free. Or, sign up using the following link and we will both get an EXTRA 250MB for free!
