I ordered a book from Hank. No big deal, then received a email to sign up for the newsletter. No big deal. I went to sign up and at the bottom there is a bar asking for my annual salary! Sorry Hank, it's none of your goddamn business how much money I make and it is just not cool to ask this of people signing up for your letter. And I WILL not be ordering anything from you again. End of rant.

The question was probably optional!
My guess is that he does more mailings to people whose income is higher.

FYI RK I make damn good money thank you very much for taking the stance I'm in lower income. And no the question was not optional. Thank you again. Email me your W2 from 2008.
Re: It's None Of Hank Lee's Business
All you had to do is not answer the question or not sign up for the newsletter. Obviously it was a big deal since you didn't want to provide the requested information. Lying is also a good alternative.
Richard didn't attack you and...FYI...not everyone uses a W2.
Also, at least in this country....all money is damn good.

Dude, chill out! RK didn't imply anything at all with his response, other than stating one rather obvious reason Hank might be asking for that data.
You can simply choose not to participate. That would solve your problem. I take it you were still able to get the book you ordered? You didn't have to sign up for his newsletter to get it?
I will order stuff from Hank, for sure. He often has things I can't find anywhere else.

And his newsletter offers substantial discounts weekly, sometimes more often. (At least, I guess, in my income bracket.)

Hmmm, Creative Finance 101 in entering the 'right' amount (wink wink) and the book is free -- or at least the newsletter.
As you did, complete the application only if you wish.
