On the video of Ramsey doing the coins and cylinder it seems like theres no premise to the coins and cylinder trick because the camera does not capture everything that happens.

Expect perfection and you will always disappointed. No one ever expected to find footage of Ramsay performing 99% of the routine. David Ben did, and with the help of Fantasma's sponsorship, we were able to bring you a DVD with the footage on it.

What do you mean "there's no premise?" Do you mean that there's no patter? Yes, it's silent. Do you mean you can't tell what's happening? You see the coins and cork dropped through the cylinder. You see the cork left under the cylinder on the table. You see the coins vanish one at a time, then reappear under the cork inside the cylinder. Then the cork is removed and the coins recovered, then the coins and cork transpose and the cork is found under the cylinder after the coins have been plucked from the air. What exactly didn't you see in the movie?

Wish I could see it. No November issue here in North Smithfield RI as of yet. Should I give it another day or two?

It looks like to me he places the cork in the tube lets us know its really a regular tube then vanishes the coins and picks up the tube and cork. then he places the coins into the does some coin flurries and retrieves the coins from the tube. I never see any coin transpo. He's pretty good at it though.

Flynn, the second half of the trick is where he puts the sliver of cork in his hand and the cylinder back over coins - then the coins start appearing in his hands. He then lifts the cylinder and you can see the cork there. - Then he goes back to dropping stuff through the cylinder, packing it up and shows his hands empty for the applause cue.

* side note - any thoughts on a way to drop the wand into the cylinder and have it not come out the other side?

At regular speed. I know the films old but I like it and very appreciative of it still, its not what was bothering me. It was that to me it didnt look like any transpo and reappearances were taking place. Maybe I need to follow along and pay attention next time I see it.(this evening) But I watched it like 2 or 3 times and figured I'll read the magicana to it understand whats going on. Just havent had time to do do.

Richard Kaufman wrote:Michael Ammar simply performs David Roth's Chink a Chink routine (though he might do it with a shell--I can't remember, but that's something Roth purposefully avoided).

I recall seeing David Roth on Late Night With David Letterman not too many years ago. Letterman, sometimes funny and entertaining, sometimes simply obnoxious, was the latter on this occasion, as he repeatedly grabbed Roth's coins (I suspect he's heard of coin shells), so Mr. Roth's foresight in performing without them was more than a little fortuitous. He came off looking genuinely magical, Letterman looking like a jerk.

Thanks Richard,

I guess I'm being overzealous. I'm spoiled as I usually get my issue within 2 to 3 days after you announce the shipping date. I'll be patient.

John, contact the Genii office and we will send you the missing DVD. Just curious: was your polybag open? Or was it sealed and the DVD just hadn't been inserted?

Hello Richard,

My wife opened the bag and she doesn't recall it being open or split, but then she didn't anything was supposed to be included in the bag so it may not have been apparent to her...Thanks for your concern Richard.

all the best,
John

I didnt mean to offend anybody. So after watching it again I didnt get it because I coudnt the cork from a coin and a stack of coins and during the vanishing of coins one vanish is cut out. And i sure wasnt gonna read the 3 page magicana section to it because some articles in any magazines its just hard to follow along with. My mind will wonder off after like two paragraphs or whatever. Thats why theres a lot of aticles from genii i never read. And I was posting not asking questions

Arrived in Malaysia today. I opened it up and there went my Saturday morning. I enjoyed seeing Bobby Bernard's memories - He always had good stories about Ramsay and others.
