The October Issue of Genii Now Winging Its Way to All Good Subscribers

Postby Richard Kaufman » September 18th, 2008, 1:36 am

The October issue of Genii, featuring Japanese magician Tomo Maeda on the cover, is on its way to you. We also have a great article on the Puzzle King, Sam Loyd, with puzzles for your to copy and assemble, and in Magicana David Regal teaches the famous DelGaudio Shuffle, the perfect in-the-hands Zarrow Shuffle. Plus lots more. Look for it and give a shout when you get it!

I've heard of that shuffle. Worth the price of my subscription, when the issue makes its way to Canada. I expect long practice sessions.

The DelGaudio Shuffle is extremely difficult to do, however it's worth its weight in gold in the right hands.

That shuffle is a hell of a scoop. There's many a card guy out there who has been looking for the handling after getting handed their ass in a sling by those in the know.

As one of those with his donkey slung . . . I'm really looking forward to my copy showing up here.

BZ to the Genii-crew for this!

Looks like the TOC is missing some stuff on the home page. Is there anything else in Magicana besides the DelGaudio Shuffle?

That's what he's referring to, Joe -- the contents listed there don't seem to be complete. Certainly Magicana/The DelGaudio Shuffle is not listed on that page.

The middle pages fell out like it did with the Zarrow issue with mine. Good interview with Tomo.

Sorry, the entire Magicana section is missing from the table of contents online. Getting it fixed. Yes, there are a pile of good tricks in Magicana this month.

Richard,

I still continue to buy my great Genii Magazine from my favorite book dealer and family friend. I get the feeling that I am one of "Them" who are not a good subscriber. For now things won't be changing, my mail box is not expandable, I should say my mail receptical was stunted in the building phase way back when, and my mail delivery person would certainly ruin the good condition of your Genii Magazine in the delivery process. I may change my mind about all this if we happen to get new living arrangements. Meanwhile I will remain one of "them" non subscribers but who has not missed an issue for a decades now.

Respectfully,

Scott Peterson

Scott, anyone who buys Genii is a good reader and okay in my book. Thanks for reading. My friend Tom Ransom in Toronto only buys Genii from the magic shop so he can get a pristine copy with nary a question about the handling of his local mail carrier.

I was happily surprised to find the issue in my mailbox (Ottawa, Canada) today, 9/24.

That shuffle is very slick, I enjoyed that. Tomo Maeda is class as well. Very enjoyable issue.

Every issue of "Genii" has it's charms, but this October issue is really great: along with the consistently excellent regular features, there's Mr. Maeda, more Mr. Giobbi, the DelGaudio Shuffle, Robert Neale, the Sam Lloyd puzzles (!): thank you very much.

This, following the Zarrow, Dai Vernon, Patrick Martin, Steve Cohen, Dr. Hooker issues (et al)--might 2008 be the best year of "Genii" ever?...

P.S. I don't know how you rigged it, but as I was typing this, my "centerfold" popped loose from it's staples and flew off the desk--that Mr. Maeda is good!...
--All the above PLUS a bit of perfectly timed telekinesis? Ay carumba! --I can't wait for the November issue. :^D

Safely arrived in Cologne, Germany on Thursday.

I love the Sam Loyd piece, the word "flummox" and Tomo Maeda's quote "I try never to chose (sic) something just because it's new."
