Thanks...

Finally, an event both my brother (A guitarist) and I (A magician) can enjoy together.

Nope.
The event could also be enjoyed by Jay Graydon, studio guitarist and producer who visits the Magic Castle every couple months.

Funny... one of Ricky Jay's performances at McCabe's involved a comedy hypnotic spoof with four stooges. One was Dai Vernon. I was one, and unfortunatley I'm having trouble remembering the other two (one was a femle who's sister was on Sat. Nite live). It was very funny and a bit scary as a laymen came onstage and claimed, later, that he was actually hypnotized. You had to be there.
Stay tooned.

Pete Biro wrote:(one was a femle who's sister was on Sat. Nite live).
Probably Tracey Newman, who is Laraine Newman's sister. Tracey was Jay's girlfriend for a while, and was the naked woman in "Cards as Weapons." She is now a musician.

Here's a link to her site:

From the current photo it looks like she's about to perform Interlocked Production of Cards; obviously influenced by Ricky Jay.

Re: RickyJay/McCabe's at UCLA
I remember seeing Ricky Jay back in the 1970s
in a little classroom at Western Michigan University
in Kalamazoo. At the time the primary comedy
magicians I'd seen had been guys like Duke Stern,
Monk Watson, and Senator Crandall -- all great...
all hits at the Abbotts' get-togethers.
However, I was totally jazzed by long-haired Ricky's
rock-n-roll, off-beat persona. One bit he did,
"sending plastic mouse and chosen card flying
through the air akimboooo...." really opened my eyes
to other comic alternatives.
Thirty years later I can't get that line out of
my head... I'm still laughing. The guy's great!

Bill: Right, it was Tracey Newman. The fourth "stooge" was a cardman/lawyer specializing in entertainment law... (I just can't pull names out from those days) :(
