WANTED: Online Product Reviewers for the Genii Forum
The new releases are piling up here in the Genii office faster than you can imagine and there is simply no way most of them are going to get reviewed in the magazine--not enough space.
So, I want to establish a "New Product Reviews" section here on the Forum. I need about three to six folks who can write well and are willing to do it for free. If I don't know you, then you'll need to provide some references from other folks in the magic community. We will provide the product (DVDs and tricks--no books) via snail mail and you can keep whatever you get. The only requirement is that you have to review everything we send you.
Please contact me at moobooks@ix.netcom.com if you're interested.

Re: WANTED: Online Product Reviewers for the Genii Forum
I've had many excellent responses today, and will choose the crew tonight, e-mail them, and send out packages of material tomorrow.
Look for reviews to start appearing sometime next week in a new category:
"Light from the Lamp ONLINE. Read exclusive online reviews of products and discuss them."

Hello Richard:
Just saw your message. It's been some time since I reviewed anything, but will be happy to be of assistance if I may. Your "PM" function wouldn't permit a direct note.

I've disabled my private message function--too many questions that could be answered by others on this Forum and my time is limited.

000, sorry, it's the expense of foreign postage which makes it economically unfeasable. Not the time. There is no more surface mail--it doesn't exist. It's airmail or nomail.

I wish I were qualified to take it on (I definitely have my opinions!). It's an outstanding idea. I like to read about things I can before I buy. I look forward to reading!

Re: WANTED: Online Product Reviewers for the Genii Forum
I have already selected a group of reviewers. They have been contacted by e-mail for their snail mail addresses. If you have not been contacted, then you have not been chosen at this time. Thanks to all who offered. Look for the reviews to begin appearing within the next few weeks as we get the new category inserted into the Forum and the guys start submitting their stuff.

Re: WANTED: Online Product Reviewers for the Genii Forum
An online product review forum is an excellent idea. Especially the fact that only a select few can review makes it valuable compared to an open review section - simply because you get to know your reviewers and you avoid suck puppets hyping their own stuff.
That being said, the quality of some of the current reviews are not up to par yet. I would recommend that one of the "paper reviewers" write a guideline - a framework if you want - that the online reviewers must follow.
I'm not pointing fingers or names, because I have respect for volunteer work, and if nothing is changed, the online reviews are still a plus for Genii.

I'm trying to allow for a less rigid structure, which invites reader participation by response.

Pete,
You're a legend! Don't you ever forget that!
I still think you need to do another book or DVD with all that knowledge in your head.
