I'd love to have more classifieds in Genii, but we print every one we receive: I think in the issue we just put to bed, May, there are an entire half page of classifieds--more than we've ever had before!

So far, the Kaufman-era Genii's sensibilities with respect to cracks, butts, bosoms, and kisses between Mac King and Johnny Thompson pretty much matches my own.

But that may be the strongest argument of all for changing the standards.

Unfortunately what your saying is true and sad. People for some unknown reason can't handle the human body, men's or woman's. Well I have to admit, I can only handle a woman's body. Go figure!

Brian,

I think you're lying. I've heard that you like to handle the truth.

Holy Moley! the DC postal service must have heard that Baltimore's postal service was more efficient - and that must have bugged them to no end b/c I got the April issue just a few days after getting my March issue!!

I'm really enjoying this issue, Richard, including the King/Levy stuff.

It was a tad obtuse, but I enjoyed it anyway.

I really enjoyed the Ben Harris article and his tricks. Luckily, I was a Genii subscriber when he appeared there in the 90's. One of these days, I have to look it up.

I still haven't received my April issue. For some reason I always get it late.

I just received my issue last night (3/27/2002) in San Francisco, CA, USA. The first issue of my gift subscription. I've been buying it for quite a while at a shop every month. I do enjoy Genii and find the contents to be useful, entertaining, and sometimes thought provoking. What a great issue to start my subscription.

One thing that could be better, is that I know from talking with other subscribers in the area that the area shop gets Genii much faster. I will venture a guess that that is due to other merchandise from the same vendor being shipped via another faster method though. I'm out there doing my thing and though I enjoy Genii, I don't think having it a week or two later than the shop is going to alter my world. It would just be nice to get it sooner. It was one of the factors that kept me from subscribing.

Keep up the great work on the magazine and the books too. Congratulations on your new family addition as well.

In thoughts,
Allen

The reason the magic shops receive Genii before some subscribers is because the shop copies are sent by UPS, while subscriber copies are sent by second-class periodical mail. The shop copies cannot be sent the same way, and UPS will arrive more quickly in certain parts of the country.

I picked up my copy of the April Genii today.

I am frankly puzzled over the Jim Swain effect "Royal Departure" which I had looked forward to seeing in print having seen Richard Kaufman's posts on this forum that said it was "one of the best tricks he has ever published" and that it "fooled him badly".

Firstly using equivoque to force one of four suits the way written is not one of the better uses of the technique and secondly, there is a far better use for 'card under the cellophane wrap' in 'Miracles with cards'.

Just my opinion on one small part of one issue.

Respectfully,

Andy Hurst.

Andy, the version Jim fooled me with did not use equivoque, but was the second handling with the four prepared boxes.
I suggest you go try the effect on some of your friends and watch their faces!

Hi Richard,

I tried it on some friends over Easter. It gets an ok response. But 4 boxes is not compact enough for me. I accept it works as an effect, it's just not a method I want to use. But I'm sure it's right for a lot of people, it's horses for courses. I got something of value out of the issue as always so I'm still a happy reader :-)

Richard,

The sled dogs finally dropped off my April issue today (4/18). And yes, they were Germain shepherds.

Whoops! I guess that's the May issue! I never received the Ben Harris issue...help!

Raj :D
