criticism on michael ammar

Postby Max Rodriguez » December 1st, 2004, 1:18 pm

There is no doubt about it michael ammar is one of the most famous magicians today. With appearances on every tv show amagined.I am not one of his biggest fan at all because I love sleight of hand card magic. His own card creations are not very exciting for a technicle card worker like me.He does do alot of neat sleight of hand with the cups, everything else is simple commercial magic. The most amazing trick I have seen him perform is roll over aces which is not even his.You got Daryl with Cardboard chameleons and double dzzling triumph and larry jennings with The Jennings Revelation aND Invisible Palm.Michael ammar is a star but is he incapable of creating great sleight of hand card magic?

I am not sure I am getting your post. You state he is in every major TV show but he does not entertain you because he does not use the latest and most difficult sleights imaginable? Let me ask you: Do you think that Michael cares? He is getting booked on the shows because he entertains lay audiences and in my opinion that is what magic is intended to be doing in the first place. Why does somebody care how he does it? He is doing magic good by bringing it in the publics eye rather than sitting in a dark room and entertaining you and your buddy with the craziest card sleights.....

I have to agree with Steve V.
On a personal note,
The Magic of Michael Ammar ought to be in the library of EVERY magi.
Respectfully,
Darren

He uses the double lift right? Do you know how many times I have seen "professionals" do this bad. And some peoples card forces wouldn't fool my Dog. Anyway, Ammar can get it done.

He is great.but his card magic is just very basic nothing like invisble palm, collectors, assemblies or even twisting the aces

maxrod88,

Apparently you haven't seen him do his double bill-in-lemon. It's genius and one of the most stunning pieces of magic I've ever seen. It may not be cards, but he's WORKING in that trick.

Maybe Ammar is focused more on the effect he's attempting to create rather than the method -- which should be invisible anyway -- used to create it. Isn't that a good thing? Aren't sleights just tools, and doesn't it make sense to use the best tool for the job, rather than the latest tool simply because it's the latest? Everything I've seen and read of his suggests he knows exactly what he's doing and is very capable of doing it.

This has got to be one of the most idiotic threads ever.

And the original post is one of the worst examples of inability to spell I've ever had to read.

Probably could, though likely sees no need as he finds greater rewards doing other things.

Quite surprised by this question.

Is there a prize for noting a good combination of spelling and grammar errors in a quoted post?
