February Issues should Begin to Arrive Now
Many of you should now have received the February issue with Reed McClintock on the cover, and Luna Shimada and Harry Kellar on the wrap.
Any thoughts?

Re: February Issues should Begin to Arrive Now
I got mine in Grovetown, Georgia on 1/26/07... 2 magazines (Genii and MUM)! Many thanks! This is not my first subscription. My first was back somewhere in '70s was gift from John Todman (couldnt remember his last name correct) when I first met him while he was in Wilson, N.C., I was in school for the deaf, to perform the show. I want to say to him a many thank you!
Thanks RK!

The February issue arrived on January 24th in Chattanooga. My January issue never made it, but I understand a replacement is on the way. :)

My came the 24th too!
I thought the wrap was great.
It surprise me because you posted the cover of Reed McClintock on web page this time before I receive the Feb.issue.
When I got it I saw Kellar and Luna. Then I thought to myself that Reed was the cover and then it hit me ...oh it's the wrap. Yes,sometimes I fool myself. :D

My passion is magic history.
I always enjoy the stories and features that lean that way, so it probably goes without saying; I loved the Kellar on Kellar feature by Jim Steinmeyer.
Enjoyed the John Gaughan feature a few issues back too!!!
Keep up the good work. No, GREAT work!!!

Re: February Issues should Begin to Arrive Now
I recieved the February issue today. After reading half way through Light from the Lamp I followed the folding instructions for the front cover. Aside from Spy vs. Spy the 'hidden' cover art was often my favorite part of MAD magazine. The groovy picture of Reed McClintock is a great surprise.
Thanks,

Re: February Issues should Begin to Arrive Now
You will know that your subscription is going to expire because an enormous sheet of white paper is going to be wrapped around your issue saying, "YOUR SUBSCRIPTION WILL EXPIRE IN TWO ISSUES."
And if you don't renew then, another big white sheet will be wrapped around the following issue saying you only have one issue left.
If you haven't seen those things wrapped around your magazine, your subscription is not about to expire.

Still hasn't arrived in Woodland Hills, CA.
Unusual...usually arrives by the 18th or 20th.
Noticed that the mailman is getting pretty tricky...maybe he's pilfering the magazine. :D

You'd be surprised at how often people in the post office pinch magazines.

Am I the only one who hasn't gotten their January issue yet? I do hope my Genii isn't being pilfered and read by the people at the post office, now that would definitely make me

Continents: is your subscription for airmail or seamail? If airmail, then your issue is lost and you should ask for a replacement. If seamail, then it can take 4 to 12 weeks for the issue to arrive.

The February issue arrived in Alexandria today. Paul Critelli's article on Reed McClintock is outstanding! If awards were given for the best contributions in a magic magazine, this one gets first place.
All in all - this issue raises the standard.

Mine also arrived today in Roanoke, VA.
Idiosyncrasies of the US mail I suppose.
BTW...the issue IS fantastic.

Re: February Issues should Begin to Arrive Now
Hi Richard, my subscription is by airmail. This is the first time that 2 issues of Genii didn't make it on my mailbox (already got the December issue replacement, by the way;). I dread to think that somebody else at the post office is reading my copies of Genii  Thanks Richard, I'll be contacting the subscription department.

Re: February Issues should Begin to Arrive Now
Not late! Perhaps not as early as it has been in the past (as far as your delivery goes), but it isn't late until the entire month has gone by and you haven't received it.
Since we replace lost issues on the 21st of the month, and send them by Priority Mail, we can never be late.
We have been remarkably consistent in getting our issue in the mail between the 8th and the 11th of the month before it's dated--this hasn't changed in years.

Here in the UK I am still waiting, with diminishing patience, for the January issue. There's late and there's "sod it, I'll subscribe to Magic instead." Grrrr.
Re: February Issues should Begin to Arrive Now
The issue arrived in San Francisco on the 30th. The Reed McClintock article was inspirational!

My issue of the February :genii: arrived today. Exceptionally fast delivery.
I already enjoyed the article on Reed McClintock and the review of Chelman's new book.

Re: February Issues should Begin to Arrive Now
If you subscribed for airmail service, MAGIC magazine uses exactly the company we do for that purpose. We are all reliant upon third parties for delivery.
If you subscribed to Genii by airmail, and still have not received your January issue, then you can ask for a replacement by contacting the office. Surface mail delivery obviously takes longer.

Re: February Issues should Begin to Arrive Now
I'm missing December and January Genii, and January Magic (Margaret has sent me the Genii, so yay!). I went to the post office this morning to let them know and ask what can be done. The two posties went to the back room and had a wee conflab, then came back to let me know that because the address label was for Kendall the new postie must have 'not recognised the name and condemned them'. This, despite mail getting through for Smith, Rodriguez, Kendall and three other names of people who moved out up to eight years ago...
Methinks there's a postie somewhere practicing the Diagonal Palm Shift...
The downside is that the Magic site shows the January issue as sold out, so it's debateable as to whether I'll get that one :(
Take care, Ian

Re: February Issues should Begin to Arrive Now
Received Genii today friday (Feb 02, 2007)in Arlington VA and looking forward to reading about Luna Shemada and all the reviews. Only had time to scan the magazine but was puzzled by the top 10 list. Is that just Murphy's products and just for last month??

They are not only Murphy's products, but compiled from all the products they sell. And they are always the most recent month for which we can get the data just prior to going to press.

Re: February Issues should Begin to Arrive Now
Just a general note: even though they were mailed on January 11, the February issues seem to be taking a little more time than usual to arrive.
Please be patient and don't call the office to ask where your issue is yet.
We will replace any missing issues starting on Feb.21 and we do so by Priority Mail so you'll get it right away.
99% of the people who call us within the first two weeks of the month have received their issue before the 21st and don't have to call back.

My February issue arrived today, about a week/week and a half later than usual. I actually got the January issue much later than usual also, on Jan. 22nd. (I was going to ask for a replacement, but it was there when I came home from work that day!)

Re: February Issues should Begin to Arrive Now
I can see where I made a mistake in calling this thread "February Issue should be Arriving Now." That was an error (too much work, too little sleep. Perhaps people are seeing that and that's what's causing the confusion. I'll change the title to what it should have said in the first place: "February Issues should BEGIN to Arrive Now."

My copy of the February issue arrived here in Calgary, Canada, last week.
The Marvel comics / Fasntasma magic ad on the back caught my eye as well. And I enjoyed the Kellar on Kellar article.

Re: February Issues should Begin to Arrive Now
As for the "MAD Magazine" folding cover, when my issue arrived, I just couldn't convince myself to fold the nice cover of the Feb issue. My OCD was almost forcing me to do it anyway, just so that I could see the image it created.
Then, the angels started singing. It was the Hallelujah moment, when behold, right there on the index page is the completed "folded" cover picture.
What a relief. I feel better now. The anxiety has subsided. I can sleep better tonight.
Richard: What a great issue (as always!).

Re: February Issues should Begin to Arrive Now
As incredible as it may seem,I did not get yet the Jan Genii! For what I understand it seems that here a private mail delivery is connected with the post office, and they dump the magazines there..they used to deliver them with a van,but now they do with a bundle of other magazines I subscribe-to from the U.S.A.I'm waiting some more time before asking for a replacement as I do not want dupe, sometimes they can arrive in the middle of thefollowing month! And the delivery is by Air Mail!Maybe the crew is reading it?
