Re: Identify this gimmick
David, good thoughts.....I had tried the gimmick on my thumb, but not until you mentioned it again had I considered the advantage over a thumb tip ....... having it on the thumb. On the thumb, the ring portion is away from the audience.....an important point. The gimmick has a curve cut out of each ...

Re: Identify this gimmick
thanks for the ideas, guys.......Interesting thoughts.... Its probably the simplest and most obvious, billets or bills. But it just seems so unnecessary. Pete........I have another gimmick for lighting matches that is great.......but this doesn't seem to be for that purpose. I love the Ottokar Fisch...

Identify this gimmick
Hello all, I collect little hand gimmicks. Some are custom, one-off things and I can't figure out their function. This gimmick looks like it was professionally made (or cast?), not a slapped together by a duffer like me. My first guess, seconded by our moderator Dustin, is that it is to conceal a bi...

Re: Arising cards..
The last part, the DeKolta thing might need something extra to spin the cards away, or perhaps just a deck switch (blizzard) for the fully prepared pack? Have folks checked out Bruno Copin's work animating cards? horizontal card rise (card appear at face of the deck) and moving pip cards to the mix....

Re: Arising cards..
I think Ryan is correct, the Vernon routine is the best way to do it. Three cards selected, 2 rise from the deck and the last one rises out of the deck and through the air, up to your waiting hand. I did this routine (as well as his description of Larry Grey's with the card through the handkerchief)...

Re: Arising cards..
The rising cards......I think its always been my favorite trick. But I have an ideal in my head, and none of the routines I have worked on have lived up to that ideal......so its still not a regular part of my show. I continue to work on it all the time. I haven't given up. Faucett Ross used to spea...

Re: False Dealing Sources
Dave, This may not be what you are asking for.....a specific source....but you are right to investigate many and compare approaches. But "the best" bottom deal is the one that works best for you and is least conspicuous in grip and action. I basically use a deal described in Erdnase. In my...

Re: Wine bottle production - Ammar, Hooser or Bob Read
Bob Read's routine is fantastic......and it has lots of minor effects logically leading up to the big production. It is a complete routine, as opposed to just a production. Even if you don't do it Bob's way, study it for the construction of the routine, including how he motivates the position of his...

As someone who makes and sells my own DVDs, I thought I would chime in. I'm very selective about who I send DVDs to for review.
