Re: Tom Stone Column
The reason I posed my question, will be clear from the following: A while back I was booked for a (rare!) upmarket private function. On announcing Im also a lwayer: crowd goes ooooooohh. 'There are only 3 lawyer jokes' I said, 'the rest are true': aaaaahh goes the crowd ( funny) Yes, the first thing...

Re: Tom Stone Column
I will be specific. Ive been a lawyer ( the object of many jokes- as of being sharks and ripping people of) for 20 years.
Should one wish to adopt 'the lawyer' persona, should one?
Make fun of 'other lawyers' , but you are not like that.
Take it on the chin, ie youre on of them.

I have a (serious) question for Tom and others:
Talking of assuming a (performance) character:
Does anyone know of any comics, magicians etc who have ( successfully) portrayed themselves as mean unlikeable characters?

Wonder how a jumbo version may work?
This effect involves a count, a glide and a double turnover.
Hopefully not an Elmsley count..........
We shall wait and see what Max has got in mind.

Finney's $100 thumb tip
Great article ( Dustin) on Michael Finney in the Feb issue. Reading about how someone had charged him $100 for a thumbtip, took my memories back about 30 years, when I spent 3 weeks on the QE2, a now retired luxury liner. On board performing was a BIG NAME UK magician. Sometimes he would walk of to ...

I received my Wonder matches from EM Magic the other day.
The dimishing matchbox part ( as described in the instructions) is hopeful nonsensical garbage.
If anyone owns this prop and disagrees, feel free to post.
If you were considering buying it, caveat emptor.

Bad luck Marco. Luckily literacy is not high on the African agenda so books and dvdees largely make it safely through. Not so lucky for gifts or items of clothing though............ International shipping is where some dealers make a mint.
First Kilogram to my country is $32. Some dealers charge the full kilogram ( rate) even where the weight is far less.

Value your Magic
I came across a little booklet recently, titled Fighting the devil with Magic, by John de Vries. In the foreword it states: he ( de Vries) estimates the worth of his accumulated equipment at over $7000 ( written in 1974) Question, was it ever the done thing in days gone by do refer to the value of o...

Anybody know who invented, and perhaps when, this trick with a matchbox came to light. It may be called Vanishing matchbox cover or something. Re: Should Mark Lewis Stay or Go?
I think it was Harold Taylor who authored a trick in Macigram, essentially a 20th century silk effect, using a vanishing cane. Lets see: a red silk is tied to one end of the cane, a green to the other. Yellow is vanished, cane is held by the ends by the hands, cane vanishes, yellow silk is found tie...

Yes Harold Taylor is a forgotten name.( except of course for Macigram readers from days gone by.) 3 trick Taylor you say.
Am I correct one of them was 20th century silks?
What was the third?
