Re: Preview Video Clips of New Coin Sleights
Thanks Frank. I appreciate your comments. I've recently added a fourth file which is the URV with Ramsay concealment. By the way, if anyone has problems viewing the images I can send you one or more via email if you prefer. They are 1.5-2.5 MB files. Sometimes the server at Yahoo is busy and you'll ...

Re: "You will fool yourself"
Good point Pete. As long as one dimension of the array is odd and one is even (4x5, 5x6 etc.) you don't have to use the snake deal. If each dimension is even (4x4, 4x6 etc.) than you have to use the snake deal so odd numberes cards will lie next to even ones in adjacent columns or rows.

Re: "You will fool yourself"
It's a fine book but the best effect in it is a nearly self-working effect called "Degrees of Freedom". The topological folding procedure to reset the Hummer Parity mixing is brilliant and IMO worth the price of the book. The mathematics behind it is actually quite simple, but it is disgui...

Re: Jason Latimer TV appearance this week!
I applaud Jason for the creation of the technology of his clear cups and balls. His personality is very engaging. However, the routine was much too long, difficult to follow (not figure out), and confusing in general. He reached behind his table too many times and for no apparent reason. After the a...

Re: In The Hands Wild Card DVD Released Very Soon
Hi Tom, I mentioned Miller's routine (which I have) since it is an "in the magician's hands" wild card routine and doesn't use the spectator's hands as a platform. I thought that people who wanted to do it that way should be aware of this effect. Someone in the thread asked about using the...

Re: In The Hands Wild Card DVD Released Very Soon
I haven't seen Tom's routine or DVD. There is a very good Wild Card effect by Bob Miller who is known for the Relentless Ring and String Routine video. It is called Wild Hand and comes complete with the needed cards. It is done entirely in your hands. The spectator's hands are not used as a table. I...

Re: New eBay scam
It's a form of "Pfishing" which asks for passwords, account #s etc. They are a nuisance and a method for identitiy theft as well depleting your account. Remember Ebay or Paypal will never ask for account info to be filled in via email.

Re: New Coin Book being released
I'm currently working on a supplement to 21st Century Coin Mechanics. It will be a CD of MPG video files showing how the sleights look when performed. Some routines will also be included. This is not a teaching video. I have no plans on using these video clips to promote the book. It will be availab...

Re: October Issue of Genii is in the Mail: Steve Forte is on the Cover
I've been reading Genii for more than 40 years. The magazine rarely came out in the month stated on the cover. The content was spotty and the layout and design no better than a high school newspaper. Since Richard took over, the quality of the magazine on all levels has dramatically improved. The co...

Re: The essence of *Close up magic*...
Excellent point Werner. I will have to get "Off The Cuff" because this sounds exactly like the type of coin magic I love to watch and the kind that I perform myself. It's coin magic in the trenches, performing under extreme conditions with people all around you and often no access to a tab...

And then there is the unpublished (soon to be released on DVD?) effect of Mickey Silver called Spitfly using 3 ungaffed silver dollars. I've watched him do it many times and it is the most magical looking of all the "3Flys" I've seen.

Chuck-A-Luck, Bob Farmer
The apparent odds in Chuck-A-Luck are very counterintuitive. When I was in high school I showed this game to a very smart math teacher. He couldn't accept that the odds actually favored the house. We then played the game for an hour with the house of course winning and he still thought this was a tr...

Re: "Irreversible" card tricks
Tell one spectator that he will serve as a table. Instruct him to hold both hands out flat and touching each other. That will increase the number of effects you can choose from. Apex Ace from Close Up Card Magic is a great effect can be done in your hands that also includes an ambitious card sequence.

Re: Mickey Silver's Coin Retention Vanish (Silver's Ultimate Vanish)
If you think the Silver Ultimate Vanish looks good on his demo tape, you won't believe it when you see him do it in person. I saw Mickey do this literally surrounded by magicians and laymen and he absolutely floored them. No gimmmicks, no devices, just pure sleight of hand mechanics perfected.
