Re: RIP David Roth
I actually thought that Letterman was funny in that segment. Although I understand what you are saying Alfred and do agree to some extent, I can imagine how annoying it would be if I was on national television and the host was interfering with my performance. No doubt about it, I.M. When a host cro...

Re: RIP David Roth
Roth is to coin magic what Vernon, Marlo and Bill Malone are to card magic. I learned my basic coin sleights by studying David back in the early and mid-nineties. My most valuable takeaway was the importance of mastering the fundamentals (still a work in progress, ha ha). It's amazing what you can ...

I am now praying that someone loving takes ownership and excellent care of his cat Neppi. If I could adopt Neppi, I surely would but circumstances do not allow for that to happen unfortunately. Thanks for both links, Brad. Robert Klein is the perfect host. Not sure how you decided that! He seemed to be stepping on David’s presentation at first and David seemed to be annoyed with him. Then, Klein calmed down and allowed David to do his presentation. At least, that is how I viewed that segm...

How sad...he was only 68!
I had a wonderful conversation with him several years back and really appreciated having the opportunity to do so. I still think about the things we discussed that day.
He was a regular guy and a really nice guy as well as an excellent magician.

Yes, the Dragon Okito Box (although I didn't know it was a limited edition!).

Re: Characters on "Chinese" Coins
If the symbols say luck, happiness, and things like that, then there is no problem. Someone who can read them may not feel a reaction if it appears to be a souvenir type of coin. Of course, if the characters are controversial, then we have a problem and a distraction to those who can read them. If t...

Re: Characters on "Chinese" Coins
I have seen this discussed before. My feeling is this... The characters on the coin used for magic do not have to say anything really. If it does, it should be something clean and innocent. The spectator should be focused on the effect and not the characters on the coin. If they choose to fixate on ...

Several variables determine how many decks you can sell. The demo itself, the patrons, and so on. The problem with demoing is that many will watch to be entertained with no intention of buying one. They don’t want to perform it but just want to watch you do that. If you don’t believe me, just ask al...

There were two distinct things about John’s routine which were so perfect for me. First, his competence. He was just really good! Yet another selected card reveal but I do like it. High price may generate unauthorized copies so, in the long run, it may be better to charge a reasonable price and not have to worry about affordable copies showing up. Is that really a $50 trick? Sounds to me like the method should be obvious and no need to track it down.
A little pre-show prep and “ force the issue” should do it, no?

It is my feeling that animals should be treated in the very best way possible at all times.
