I've worked with her on material for a subsequently shelved show and exchanged many emails and conversations; i've told her my thoughts on this effect before and i'll happily discuss it in person with her or anyone else. For the record i don't blindly like (or blindly dismiss) every single effect ev...

I'm not sure where or how you've decided what my opinions on floating objects and theatre are since I've not expressed either in this thread talking about a specific effect and genre. There are artists who could make defecating on stage in to a piece of beautiful art that an audience would clamour f...

Re: Wonderball

I to could see it in all those different show settings, unlike you though, i can't see an audience actually fooled by it since it works EXACTLY how their first (cliched) though suggests it works and because it's the core method at fault there's nothing you can do to disprove it. The EMDA events and the Supreme Magic "super days" were a travelling team who arrived in each city, took over a hall and turned it in to a magic supermarket with multiple dealers for the day/weekend exactly as described; as i mentioned at one time Supreme had staff who did NOTHING but run ...

What Paul and his team are doing is not a new concept, just one that the Magic Industry has not yet done ...maybe not in the USA but this is fairly common in Europe going back quite some time; Mephisto Magic / European Magic Dealers Association used to run several in the 90's, Supreme Magic had a f...

"Ownership" of acts in Russian circus is a tricky issue; the state/schools circus system means that once an act or routine is successful it's then taught to many different people, sometimes by the originator who's now a teacher and sometimes simply "taken" by the state (remember ...

Re: Wayne Houchin severely injured in Dominican Republic

Without wishing to get too distracted on irrelevant details the DR is not a third world country by any of the normal definitions; they could be described as a developing (and thus "second world") country but they have far too much infrastructure (tv studios, lots of golf courses, a signifi...

Their get-around that would be that you can present it with that turnover flash.... it would just require you to be sat at a table, or have a topit, or be good at sl**ving. So technically the video isn't wrong; it's just not entirely right either.

Firstly the caveat... what has happened to Wayne is terrible, traumatic and painful (i've suffered facial burns; i know how it messes with your mind over the healing period) and i wish him nothing but the very best wishes and hope he makes a speedy recovery. I would not wish what has happened to him...

Major muck-up by the organisers - at 150 ($275) a ticket the audience is going to be expecting an evenings entertainment and clearly Dynamo was only booked to do strolling/mingle stuff rather than being the feature entertainment. No matter what happened this event was doomed surely?

I found that ridiculously, needlessly complicated and incomprehensible - it needed far too much clarification and (as the video shows) physical assistance to actually reveal, with so many holes and possibilities for cheating (that were not disproven) that i struggled to follow it. Re: FISM 2012 - Day Six

The beef here is primarily that the employer was served more than the customers. And given the mandatory sale of an exorbitantly priced (US $234 !!!) book to each attending magician, it would seem that Derek Lever served himself quite handsomely at the expense of the customers as well. I'll state i...
